Bespoked turntable for Watt

I thought I would give you a little glimpse into the table I am building for Watt.

Here is a picture of the plinth designed in CAD.

Here is the actual plinth CNC machined from 1" paperstone.

The base is made out of 1" marblewood. Here it is during the construction.

Watt is a very patient man. It has only taken about a year to get to this point. There is light at the end of the tunnel. The mechanics will be from a Fairchild 412.

Back from the dead. OMG!! I feel horrible. I forgot all about this table, as it got buried under some of my other stuff. Well I come across it today and in a panic, had to finish it pronto. I emailed Watt and told him the same. Now to get it boxes up and shipped out.

Here it is with a Nima unipivot and an RB250. It sounds really good--steady and authoritative right from the start.

I think next up is to look into possible motor controllers, but for now I'm just going to enjoy.

Where is marblewood from? As a semi wood geek I have not even heard of it.

Edit: Ah, I see it is a 'rare and expensive' wood from South America.

This turntable deserves a better in situ pic than I posted above. Here it is, doing what it does. (The angle makes that arm look way more tail-down than it is.)

Some Audio-Technica ones. They're nice enough, but I'm not sure that they're right for the table. Keeping an eye out for something else.
