I was always told ,that If you want to learn to do something, you have to start somewhere. So here I am!! Diving in and doing some due diligence.... I'm going to try doing a veneer job on a Pioneer PL 516....I have an extra plinth that I picked up from a wrecked unit. I currently listen to a PL...
So, I killed my cart as a result of not having a dust cover for my TT, PL 550. Tough to find. I've worked with metals, wood, plastics and other materials professionally for many years and have a design background as well. The question is...........What do you think the market is for custom...
Well as many of you are aware I’m a big idler fan…..and belt fan and DD fan
So one idler is heading for a new home and the TD 124 is coming to fill the void, it’s a 4 digit serial number, hard to tell for sure from the photos but looks like 5662
This is a table that was on my list...
The "wood" tape on my Pioneer PL-550 is beginning to peel on a corner so I thought I would build a new plinth but I would still like to have the original labels. Does anyone make these?
I recently got a working unit of Dual 1224 minus the plinth. I ask someone who usually handle and may reproduce the plinth of lenco, garrard, etc. to do the wood work but the guy need the actual measurement. Does anyone able to provide the pattern drawing + measurement? Thank you in advance.
Just finished a plinth build thread for a Russco Studio Pro which went better than expected, so figured I’d press my luck and do a thread on this Fairchild.
The Russco plinth is for a professional model idler drive, it actually belongs to @BillWojo, he specified the size and I did the design...
Decided to document the building of a custom plinth for a Russco Studio Pro, Broadcast table, this is against my better judgement ;) but the mistake(s) made and yet to be made, might be useful to someone in the future….
This will have layers of plywood internally, but the outside cabinet will...
Hi,,
I am in the procces of remoddeling, upgrading, rebuilding, nicer making of a Audion or Marlux MX-960.
It is not a bad TT, has it flaws and probably be never top of the line, but I like tinckering with it...and after a heafty repair witch I had to do myself, I now stript the plinth from...
Hi!
Being a bit lazy and (as my wife likes to point out) bad at finding stuff, I would appreciate your best advice or links regarding making a straightforward heavy layered plinth for an idler driven turntable with all the stuff bolted in the usual way to the top plate. Some of my questions is...
Hey, new here and relatively new to vinyl and related gear (maybe only 2-3 years in at this point) and just picked up a PL-112D. I've been following guides to fix it up, and after doing seemingly all I can, it's still spinning slow (checked via phone app as well as spectroscope disc). I believe...
I'm finally getting around to building my own plinth, and like the idea of a dual or even triple plinth a la Music Hall. I read that their plinths are separated by sorbothane hemispheres, but what I can't find out is how they are fixed in place. Surely they can't just rest on the sorbothane, so...
This is really part 2 of another loong post incorporating the issue of rumble.

Another common bit of misinformation being freely dispensed by self-appointed ‘experts’...
Greetings all. Does anyone know where I could obtain drawings/plans for building a plinth for a Dual 1229? I just bought one that suffered massive plinth damage during shipment to me. I was going to repair the damaged plinth, but someone who shares by home with me and who is related to me by...
Hey,
I am ALMOST in the market for somewhat of an upgrade to my Numark turntable, even though that one is still like new and has no issues.
I have been doing a lot of research and might have honed in on a belt driven table that has a specialized speed motor and a wooden plinth.
What I...
A few months ago I posted about me finding a couple SP-25's in an old radio station that my father had purchased. I traded one of them to hoodie for a Rega RB-330 that I equipped with an Ortofon 2M Red.
For months I had it mounted in the section of particle board countertop I found it in. With...
Just bought a Dual 721 TT today for pretty cheap. Think I did well on it.
From what I'm reading in various places, it's a pretty good TT. I've never owned a Dual before. I'll be interested to give it a try out next to my Denon DP-59L when I get my new system up and running.
I see that the 721...
I'm an audio wood hobbyist. I usually do turntable plinth, amplifier cases and when there's available old wood, i spend some weekends doing speaker stand or even audio racks. i earn from this hobby and able to buy gears and records. I'm posting samples of my work and would appreciate much your...
Hi Gang! I just became the proud owner of a Thorens TD-145 MKII - a fine turntable, but a previous owner thought it would be a good idea to engrave his DL# into the plinth (and on the side, not the back Ugh!) This is the one with the brushed aluminum plinth (at least, I think that is what is...
Just because I could, had a spare few hours and wanted something unique for our furniture showroom, I decided to make a base for my new to me PL-610. I crafted it to very tight tolerances from 10/4 figured Black Walnut...
It is made so that the TT sits on its own very nice stock legs upon a...
Hello,
Recently I bought a Victor QL7 turntable in great condition. I notice that the plinth has plenty of space to fill with plasticine or something else.
I read that this may help with sonics, and for that I want to ask what can I expect if I fill the plinth with plasticine?
Will this always...
I bought some rough red oak planks last year to make a plinth for a new-to-me Garrard 301. I stored the lumber and let it dry until I was ready to make it. With an upcoming move in my near future, I had the 301 safely packed up and stored away. As luck would have it another 301 with original...
