Best Buy LP sale, most 50% off or more

Ordered and received Waylon Jennings "Honky Tonk Heros." Great record, and the pressing quality is very impressive. Just received shipping notice on my backordered Robert Cray album.

I ordered Tusk, Janice Joplin's Classic LP Collection box set and Wings over America for just under $100 - around 45% to 50% off list.

The order arrived yesterday..........AND today!

Today I received a completely duplicate shipment of all three albums. The shipping and return labels for both shipments are identical. There is only one order listed on my BB member account and my credit card was dinged only once. The only paperwork difference was the employee number of the people boxing up the two shipments.

I called BB customer service to make sure I was only being billed for one order, etc. BB had the same info I have - one order in the system and one credit card hit. The rep and I concluded that somehow the shipping department printed out two pick/shipment tickets for the same order.

Here is the ethics test. I can:
  1. Return one order and have BB completely refund my money for the "merchandise return" - while keeping the first order. Then I use the refund to purchase the Rolling Stones GRRRR album.
  2. Take the second order to the BB store down the street and let them return the second order to inventory without crediting my card (if that is even possible).

Answer is number 2. Which by the way is also the correct answer for what you do after eating a bunch of White Castles. Think about it....

If I get the inkling that the local BB staff will wind up keeping the albums I will resort to answer number 1.

I wonder how many of the album orders were duplicated. Anyone else get a duplicate?

I believe it is actually a law in the US that any unsolicited items a company sends to you are yours to keep, even if it's a mistake. So I think you can do option 3: keep them and do whatever you want with the doubles (Sell on craigslist? Target shooting? Tape them to your body and call yourself RecordMan?).

After reading your response I am concerned BB would bill me for the second shipment after I do the right thing by returning it without a $ refund. Even if I get some kind of receipt from the local store the corporate billing department would probably keep harassing me.

The corrected answer is - I'll call the local store first. If they are as clueless as the online person I will probably drop off the LPs later for a full merchandise return credit. Then if BB wants to bill me for the second order I end up at the right place. If they don't bill me for the second order BB is out $97. BB can afford it more than I can.

Maybe they will or maybe they won't. I work in retail as an auditor and it's a management call, but remember this; you didn't mess up; they did.

It's their job to do it right. Somebody at Best Buy failed to do their job properly, which is what they get paid for. It's NOT your job to do it for them and you are NOT getting paid to fix it.

They need to man up, eat their error, and train their people better. FWIW, all the hassle on dealing with the misship will probably eat up more resources that could be put to better use as they certainly won't know what to do with the goods and have to make calls to figure it out.

I know, I've been through it.

I just recieved my LP yesterday. I purchased the new Bruno Mars for the wife and I must say. I am really enjoying it!

I am guessing they won't know what to do at the local store. I will probably just return the second shipment for a full refund if I can. If not, option 3 mentioned above works - the selling part that is. Not sure I'd try the Record Man alternative.

I really tried fighting this off but couldn't resist the incredibly low prices. I had to make a second purchase. I bought the Rolling Stones GRRR box set and the Eagles box set. Expensive order but I saved big bucks getting LPs I did not have in my collection.

It will be interesting to see if this order gets doubled up too. Man, I should have added these on the original order.

I wound up returning the second shipment of my first order for a credit. I didn't want to try explaining the double pick to the young, very inexperienced CS rep. She needed assistance just entering a normal return. If BB internal auditors catch the double pick and bill me then everything would be set right.

In case somebody has a preference, Amazon has price matched a lot of these including the higher priced box sets

T.Rex Back In Stock

I have an early Slider Reprise pressing and the Fat Possum that you were not able to get. The Fat Possum repress is not anywhere near the sound quality of the earlier pressing I would look for the original if I were you.

The T.Rex Slider is evidently restocked. I hear ya about the originally produced, but I feel that particular album would be hard to find in decent shape. And, for 10 bucks, it`s nice to have a perfectly clean disc.

Did a bit of listening on iTunes. That God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise LP by
The Pariah Dogs/Ray LaMontagne (I never heard of`em) is a pretty good album to add to get the free shipping.
Also, listened to the band Mona. Again, never heard of`em, but I thought they were a bit like U2, and as a bonus, not OVERPLAYED and for 6 bucks, can`t go wrong.

Great resource for great deals.............

I am glad I saw this thread. I just ordered the Eagles Studio Albums 72-79, Kings of Leon Early years box set and Paul McCartney's Wings over America. Now the wait begins.

These showed up from the UPS man this afternoon. The Eagles Studio Albums 1972 to 1980, Paul McCartney's Wings over America and the Kings of Leon Early Years box set. All came from BestBuy.com at half or less price with free shipping! The shipping box must have weighed 25+ pounds. I really have taken to vinyl over the past year. Listening to Hotel California right now and OMG! I have never heard this album this detailed before.
