Oddly nothing coming to mind right now (not that I don't have favorites) I always liked the cutting scene in crossroads Steve Via and unseen Ry Cooder (I'm sure with time I could pull out many better Duane Allman, Mark Knofler, Jerry Garcia, Stevie Ray, Hendrix. ) let me think a bit.
(Please read that as not better than your choices, better than the cutting scene)
Can't limit to one. Some of my favs:
"How Can a Man Stand Such Times and Live?" (live version), Ry Cooder
"Comfortably Numb", David Gilmour
"One Way Out", Duane Allman
Well, I'm not sure that there's any such thing as the best guitar solo ever (sort of like there's no best flavor of ice cream) but the very first thing that popped into my mind was Eric Clapton's solo in Sunshine of Your Love. Great question though, love to hear what others think.
Best pop/rock solo IMO: Jeff Baxter w/ Steely Dan on My Old School or Larry Carlton on Kid Charlemagne.
Best guitar solo period? Hard to say but it would be hard for me to make a case for Hendrix, Page or any of the rock guys when we have Wes, Benson, Django, Metheney, Rosenwinkel, etc. to compare to. I always cringe a little when rolling stone or something puts out a "best guitarist ever" list topped by a rock guy...
