Or Hieronymus Bosch
That is actually the detective's full name.
. . . The only thing that didn't seem right was Bosch's house. Quite the bachelor pad for a detective. I'm not sure where he got the money for it but maybe that will be addressed. I couldn't make out his audio system. I saw a TT and what may have been a SS Mac next to it. :scratch2:

In the books, somebody makes a movie based loosely on one of his cases. It flops, but that's where Harry gets the money for his house with the view of LA.
I thought I saw some tube equipment in Harry's house, maybe McIntosh. Just as in the books, he's a jazz man.
Lost light, city of bones, the last coyote, Jerry Edgar, Musso & Frank, Bosch's mom was a prostitute. Lots of stuff from the novels was worked into the first two episodes.
I am a big Bosch fan.

Th original H. Bosch sure knew how to throw a party: . . .
Harry the cop pretty much drinks alone.
If we learned anything in chapter one, Harry is not opposed to having a Martini with the fairer sex. That's a good thing or it could be a pretty dull show.

The books are excellent, and I generally don't read crime and police novels. Connelly has developed a flawed, nuanced, solitary, highly principled character who doesn't interface well with suits and bureaucracies. Not always a likeable guy. Not smooth and debonair, definitely not a womanizer. An anachronism.
And, like me, he is a huge Art Pepper fan. Probably my favorite alto.
That being said, I'm ready to be disappointed by the series.
