C-50 phono inputs question

According to the user manual, phono 1&2 inputs should also work with MC carts. In the C-50 I have on my bench, it doesn't. Phono 1&2 are good for MM only. MC is available with the Phono Direct (MC) input only.
Is this normal?

I believe this is normal. I don't have MC carts but the rear is labeled MC next to the phono direct input ( not to be confused with DISC DIRECT on the front source button).

Oh, did you switch to the MC AMP settting?

Of course, no signal there. MC Direct is working.

In the original switch legs were clipped off. Put in a replacement switch with all legs in place and this cured the problem. Looks like a factory modifiation.
