Chess.com site, anyone use this?

Up to over 1600, finally.
That is a fantastic Daily Rating ! Congrats. Just played my daughter and we called it a draw. Our Daily rating is about 850 . But we were happy as the Computer said we played like 1250.
My excuse for the draw was I was trying a new opening, The Sicilian , I was black.

My son says I need to do more Puzzles , it helps with pattern recognition he says. I am at 1450 after dropping from 1570 :'( My son is rated 2450 on the Puzzles !

Guess I am too old to ever get really good.

Thanks!

It's frustrating — you get on a streak, then one boo-boo drops you by 50 points.

Not Ready For Magnus, yet.

I'm chicken, too. I always use the Cano-Kann defense when black.

It frustrates the heck out of my son. ;)

I am always using the Caro Kann when white played pawn to E4 and the Nimzo Indian when White played Pawn to D4. I am trying to expand my repertoire by learning the Sicilian when white plays pawn to E4. It seems many great players used it a lot.

I should learn those moves. My son just comes up with these crazy counters that mess me up.

It's almost like learning to play the guitar all over again.

I made boo-boos. Now back to 1550.

The "Solve The Puzzles" section on Chess.com is really helping my endgame.

I played against my son for the first time in quite a while. And even though I made some initial boo-boos, the ending was so much clearer in my mind.

I hit a plateau of 1550 to 1650. So hard for me to stay above 1600 without making an error.

Anyone still playing chess?

I started playing folks online — 2- and 5-minute games. Time games are a lot more fun and less taxing on the noodle in the long run.

:)
