I give a daily use to my Emotion (Satisfy tonearm) with Benz Micro Ace LOMC cart. The combo sounds great to my ears and I only have to enjoy the music!

Hi... just purchased a used CA Performance SE turntable...I bought it from a dealer in CA and had it shipped up to Alaska where i live... my question to you all is that the motor's metal axiss that the clear plastic pulley sits on was moving in a bit of a restricted fashion when i tested it. I unscrewed the three plastic screws and found under it a bunch of "hair or fuzz" coming up from below and thought it was hair or fuzz... i went to pull it up from the base of the shaft and found it to either be very compressed hair or fuzz or some unraveled wool bushing or wool washer that must reside at the base of the motors metal axis... problem is i cant find anywhere online the answer to this question... do i remove the "fuzz" or do i try and order a necessary replacement for my seriously dilapidated needed wool or some other material bushing/washer.... sorry, i just have no idea and i have sent CA an email in germany but havent heard back from them... thanks

upgrade to Clearaudio emotion or TT-15

An easy upgrade to either the Clearaudio Emotion or the Marantz TT-15 is to add several layers to the plinth. This is easy because the stock plinth has three threaded inserts already in place for the feet. These are really beefy inserts (metric thread pattern).

So the plan is to exactly measure the locations of these three inserts, and then make wood and aluminum layers that allow a bolt to pass through (the appropriate metric bolt can be bought in any number of places). I plan on adding about 4" of wood and aluminum layers to mine. Then use the bolts to tighten this new assembly to the stock plinth.

I plan on having my "add on plinth" carefully glued and screwed together prior to joining to the original plinth - and perhaps will place a layer of rubber or cork between the add-on plinth and the original plinth - to allow some compression when I tighten the assemblies together.

Then on the bottom layer of your new, far more massive and less resonant plinth you can install the feet of your choice - the originals (add new inserts to the bottom for these) or any type of foot of your choice.

An added benefit of this new assembly is that it will allow me to completely decouple the motor (same motor with either TT-15 or Emotion) from the plinth. A separate layer will provide a motor mounting "cup" (a bored out hole that holds the motor in a piece of wood) - this layer will not contact the plinth at any point.

The other thing you can do with the Marantz tt-15 is to buy the spindle and platter assembly and upgrade it to the CMB - the parts will fit. Of course this will cost about $1000 - but that will buy you the 40 mm platter with the appropriate spindle.

I am going to start this mod in the next month - if you are interested I can send pictures.

Both are great tables with lots of possibilities for upgrade.




At that point you have moved well past the stock Emotion of TT-15

Resurrecting this [very] old thread. Hoping that someone - maybe reddog48 - is still paying attention.

I just picked up an "as new" (unopened in box) TT15. Setting it up, I checked to see how the adjustable feet work. Try as I might I cannot get any of them to rotate. They are all completely locked. Maybe I am missing something in how they work? My understanding is that the front two (at least) can be rotated to level the table. Also, reddog48 refers to removing them in order to make a thicker plinth.

So I am looking for advice on how these adjustable legs work. Are mine somehow frozen up from the factory, or is there some trick I am missing?

Mine were screwed into the plinth very tightly, but with a good grip they released. Maybe a call to Marantz is in order if they won't budge?

Question guys. I've got an amp that I love (McIntosh MA6600) and an Emotion SE on the way. Would you say adding a stand-alone phono preamp is absolutely a must or not so much so? I am told the amp's own MM stage is pretty decent.
