Commercials You Hate

Somebody actually gets paid to think up those stupid names.... lol. Can you imagine?

But yeah the Skyrizi one is super annoying. The nonsensical song lyrics ...."nothing is everything"..... Oh shut up and go away !!
That song was a guilty pleasure of mine... until they changed it three(?) weeks ago into some Disney-like rendition. As well, if you know what it treats, they lyrics are perfectly in line.

I've been watching a lot of varied Youtube content lately. Music, DIY, educational, automotive, etc. Just about anything/everything.

There's been one constant across it all. A Nissan commercial advertising one of their SUVs. I cannot seem to escape that stupid commercial. Ugh........ make it stop!!

Honestly, it's so bad that at this point I'd specifically NOT consider that product if I was shopping for an SUV, just because their commercial is oppressive and annoying.

I have YT music premium. It's worth the $10 a month not have ads and be able to do other things or just shut off the screen while listening to music. Unfortunately, regular YT premium is separate so that you have to pay $10 each. Well, I don't go for double dipping. So, I pay the music channel only. I remember that Nissan ad as I have only been paying for a little over a month. Yes, it is offensive like most of the ads on YT. You get the first month free.

I was trying to watch a video on the regular YT site last night and the video was interrupted multiple times with ads. I stopped watching it after only 3, that's right, 3 freaking minutes! There is no excuse for that. If they would show ONE BRIEF ad before a video and that was it, fine, but 2 long ads before the ad and multiple long ads in the first 3 minutes? NOPE!

What really rubs my rhubarb are the commecials that cannot get language correct:

1. Using less when fewer is the correct word. They do not mean the same thing.
Would you say that you have fewer air in your tires? Of course not.
Would you say "I get less headaches now". Yes, they do.

2. Humira. Take note, that is an i in the word. Listen to each and every pronunciation next time you see its commercial. I know of no other word when that letter has that pronunciation.

They used to prescribe it for rheumatoid arthritis. A friend of mine who has RA said that Humira is glorified tylenol and nothing more. She twisted her doctor's arm into giving her something else. I don't remember what the new med is.

So now, it's a UC/Crones med. The ad shows a band about to play when the lead singer walks off stage briskly because she is having an attack. One of the side effects they mention is new or worsening heart failure! :yikes: Because a 25 year old girl needs heart failure.

I actually forgot about this thread. I posted this in the Peeves thread, but is better suited here.

Let's do a deep dive (that phrase is a pp too) with Car Shield commercials

1:00 - "Elated" and "more than happy" mean the same thing.
1:11 - The parts counter guy looks like an actor, not a parts guy.
1:35 - "... has my back"

0:03 & 1:26 - annoying sample sounds
0:27 - This guy's fictional interaction would aggravate the crap out of me if I were the repair guy he was speaking with.
1:21 - Rocket scientist? So to repair a car, you need aeronautics, chemical, rocket propulsion, gyro navigation,... expertise to repair a Ford Focus?
"Tell 'em Ice T sent you". Uhh, okaaaay?

Can't find a video on it, but the extremely unsatisfying "tearing up the repair bill" moment. She only tears off a small sliver, not a satisfying "tear it in half" deal. Her husband is just as annoying, saying "Car Shield replaced my engine and transmission. I mean, who does that?"

Also, Chris "Swami" Berman's weird pronunciations of s's. It's not an impediment, just weird.

I took the time and suffering to direct you in the videos. You'd better watch and revel in my pain! :p

OK, I will get on with my Car Shied-free life now. :)

BOTOX! Why would people inject botulism into their bodies? Just to look younger? Of course you're warned about all of the dangers therewith. I would rather be the wrinkled old man that I am than be a young looking corpse who died painfully. These fountain of youth meds are joke anyway. So what if you look 20, 30 40 years younger than you are. You are still your age! If you are 70, you have 70 year old internal organs, joints muscles, etc. It doesn't make you actually younger, it just makes you look younger. Personally, I would rather look my age and actually take care of my body than be a cosmetic wonder who is falling apart on the inside.

... I have been awake for 72 minutes now and have seen enough meds ads to make me feel poisoned.

How about NOOM? Who knew that if you just learn how to spell "moon" backward, you'll lose weight! I have known how to spell "moon" backward for years now and it hasn't helped me shed a single ounce!

However, I am blown away by the intro lady here!

Annoying candy taster at 0.22 though he is not as bad here as in another of their commercials..

He is annoying and I find the intro lady's voice equally annoying.

Noom stories? "I looked up at the sky and the moon was backward! :yikes: As I stood there staring at it, the pounds came off!" I'm gonna run right out to CVS and...buy something else.

How about the commercials (take your pick) where the lady(s) are super dooper perky. No grown woman sounds like that. Add to that the ones where for whatever they're hawking they seem to have the need to shout about it. I don't hate them but I do find them terribly annoying.

Samuel L Jackson CGIed into a Verizon ad where the main topic is to have 5G for gaming?:crazy::crazy: Can you say MORONS! ?????

In the most recent ad, he gets eaten by some kind of fictional sea creature and you still him yapping away, touting nonsense.

I'm not sure of the company, but it's one of those medical alert products to notify someone if you are incapacitated. The woman sprains her ankle on a walking path and has someone helping her but she pushes the button anyway. The operator asks her if she wants her daughter notified and she says yes. The whole thing strikes me as overkill. Then she says the button gives her freedom to do important things like "Go shopping!".
