Commercials You Hate

Speaking of shouting... Chase Freedom Unlimited is one of my "hate" commercials. If I had a neighbor that annoying, I'd punch his lights out.
"I'm right here! Why are you shouting?"
"Cause that's what I do!"
SLAP! "Well, stop it! Do something else! Something much quieter!"

How about Fisher Investments? "We don't have commissions. Our fees are structured so that we do better when you do better." ????? Sounds like a commission to me.

With commissions they make a percentage of the purchase price just for getting you to buy the investment.
Without commissions they only make a percentage of the increase if/when the value goes up.

....Honestly, it's so bad that at this point I'd specifically NOT consider that product if I was shopping for an SUV, just because their commercial is oppressive and annoying.

That is the classic for me; the streamed content where every break has the exact same commercial(s). By the end of it I really don't want to ever buy their product.

The biggest problem I have with these commercials are the bizarre names they come up with for different meds. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the marketing meetings. What's the discussion when they're coming up with the names? I do have to say that the background song in the Skyrizi commercials bugs me for some reason lol.

I read a little while back that the FDA approval for the drug name can take several years in itself. It has to be a name that doesn't mean anything in any language where the drug might ever be sold, it can't be a name that can be too easily misread as another drug "if" the doctor has bad handwriting on the prescription and a few other rules.

Okay, but as I explained before, they should explain that in the ad. Otherwise it comes across as a bold faced lie. It's like having a holster on your belt with something that looks like a gun in it and saying that you're not carrying a gun. If the thing in the holster is not a gun, you should say what it is, not simply say "It's not a gun." Otherwise, people will assume that you're lying and are carrying a gun.

I think it’s just you on this one. I am not the smartest guy in the room and I understand that their fees are tied to your portfolio performance and not trades. :dunno:

Well, perhaps I am alone in this. However, to me it seems that if you say something like, "We do better when you do better." you have the responsibility to explain the difference. That's my take for what it's worth.

Like I said I think it was understandable. And I am sure they did study groups to make sure they where getting there point across. Not everyone gets it, that’s life, as long as most do is probably the goal in a 20 second ad.

During my Navy instructor days I would sometimes need to explain things a few different ways for everyone to get onboard. It’s not a bad thing, it’s how our brains work.
:beerchug:

The Kraft mac & cheese (cheese? They have the gall to call that cheese?) ad where the kids refuse to eat their broccoli. The mom rips open a package of mac & crap. It's then implied that she cooked the mac & crap and poured it over the broccoli and the kids are suddenly enjoying it. Meanwhile "Only Time" by Enya is playing. For starters, you would need to use actual cheese in order to make that work, provided of course no one is lactose intolerant or dislikes cheese. Second, even so, that still is not a guarantee. Third, I like that song, it's very nice, but it doesn't have one single thing to do with what goes on in the ad!

That’s why we have an obesity epidemic in this country, 70yrs of crap “it’s good and easy” marketing for processed foods, which has led to the “there’s a pill to help you live” culture. Also the elephant in the room with Covid going so bad.

Not to mention that it means that those kids have never had anything that can rightly be called cheese.

I still don't understand the Enya song playing in the background. This is not the first time and obviously won't be the last when a song is used in a commercial where it just doesn't fit no matter how you slice it.

My kids (31, 25) grew up eating homemade Mac and Cheese, real cheese sauce and what not. They both still eat fresh (as do I) my oldest makes all my grandsons baby food from scratch, and they both work full time

Marketing has made us an unhealthy, lazy society. It becomes apparent as I travel the world :dunno:

Boy, you are so right! I'm sure you've seen that commercial "Honey! We don't have to cook anymore" They are referring to some so-called gourmet frozen food. All I can think about is what lazy arse holes these people are.

I order meats and veggies often, but they are just that, frozen premium meats and fresh seasonal veggies. I get the ordering and delivery part, especially with the Covids. But your right, I work 10hrs a day, hr drive each way and still cook :dunno:
Even with all the travel I do for work we stay in places with kitchens (Residence Inns or Homewood Suites) and cook.
