Commercials You Hate

Meds ads never stop. 90% of the ad talks about side effects, don't take Thiscrap if you have such n such condition because you could spontaneously combust. Thiscrap can increase risk of infection. Don't start if you have an infection or excessive body hair. Talk to your doctor if your head falls off while taking Thiscrap. Do not drink blue koolaid while taking Thiscrap as it might cause an unsafe increase in Heebie Jeebies.

After scaring you out of taking Thiscrap, the spokesperson continues to encourage you to try it.

The biggest problem I have with these commercials are the bizarre names they come up with for different meds. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during the marketing meetings. What's the discussion when they're coming up with the names? I do have to say that the background song in the Skyrizi commercials bugs me for some reason lol.

The best one is when they say “ don’t take Thiscrap if you’re allergic to Thiscrap” How the hell is someone supposed to know they are allergic to something that they have never been exposed to? Freakin lawyers will ruin everything.

How does the name "Thiscrap" grab ya? :D:D

Lately the ones driving me further around the bend is the BMO bank commercials they've been cramming down my throat every break. One has two annoying little twin girls aspiring to be doctors, demanding scalpals "Stat", and the other one they're pelting me with is about an eclipse. Every single commercial break all day seems a bit overkill. Don't these companies realize that the more times they try to cram their products/services down my throat the more likely it is that I build a hatred for them and they will not in a million years get nickel one of my money.:thumbsdown::crazy:

Exactly! I never tried Thiscrap! How do I know if I am allergic to it?

After seeing the same commercial twice in an hour, I usually mute or channel surf until the show comes back. My friend and I watch HBO in the evening a lot provided something good or at least tolerable is on just not to be bombarded by the continuous loop.

Perhaps the bank should remove the "M" from BMO. :D or better yet, remove the O! This bank is a big old pile of BM!
:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

Somebody actually gets paid to think up those stupid names.... lol. Can you imagine?

But yeah the Skyrizi one is super annoying. The nonsensical song lyrics ...."nothing is everything"..... Oh shut up and go away !!

There are basically two models for financing of ota broadcasting, taxed subscription, and free market commercial advertising. Most of the world has State government agency tax funding, we fell into the sponsorship by selling airtime commercialized model fairly early on here. They can't all be brilliant works of wit as much as we might wish they were.
The internet is not dissimilar, either selling eyeball access, or subscription.
No free lunches either way.

They got it backward. The line from Let's See Action by The Who goes "Everything is Nothing" and Roger Daltrey doesn't sing it like some teenage girl who grew up in Fantasyland where everything is wonderful all the time.

The Who reflected the post-war British survivor cynicism not uncommon in that generation coming out of war wreckage, physical and financial. Pink Floyd also.

I like promoting Bonerono, a fictitious preventative for those moments of embarrassing spontaneous public "excitement", and antidote for that "other" pill. (Enzyte Boner Bob seriously needed this stuff.)
Ask your doctor if Bonerono is right for you.
(All the usual cautions apply, including sudden prolonged agonizing death.)

They really pushed that one. I thought they'd never stop telling us that we're just not big enough on our own. If that was really the case, there would be a lot of lonely, single guys and a small percentage with thousands of wives each.

Side effects may include Diarrhoea, constipation, drowsiness, insomnia, weight loss, weight gain, some patients have experienced death:crazy:

One drug had rectal bleeding as a side effect. I think I'd rather have whatever the ailment was. I like how they rattle off the side effects like an auctioneer so you don't hear many of them. How can the FDA approve some of this stuff?

I love the ones that repeatedly say Blah, that could lead to death. DEATH being the operative word.
