Critters

Given your location - Mrs. H (the local bird maven... or is it mavenette?) is thinking it is an immature red-headed woodpecker

I park one of my trailers under the guy wire for a power pole in my yard. I have to chain it to the pole because it's been stolen twice (got it back both times).

I moved it to mow some weeds with my tractor, and when I put it back and chained it up to the pole, I spotted this. Couldn't have been much over 1 1/4" long. I've never seen a baby one before.

Somehow, this doesn't seem quite fair :D
You are one lucky...

Just playing around with PS and Picasa. Teaching my grandson some tricks.

I'm cabin-sitting the next couple weeks and they have been trying to cultivate hummingbirds. This year they are almost overrun with them. They count about 40 and I think I counted maybe 12 last year.

I only brought my old D70 and a few lenses including my old 180 2.8. I also have a new laptop and don't have CS/Photoshop so I was using an online editor.

Anyway, these were the best I managed to nab yesterday.

And my two favorites:

That's AWESOME.

At this cabin, they have deer that will walk within 10-15 feet of the cabin if nobody's been outside in the last half hour but predators that close... very cool.

Just a snapshot, but this one will almost never EVER let me take a snap of him.

And while mowing the back half of the property today, saw this girl and her fawn. Couldn't get a snap of the fawn. Taken with my 1965 cell phone, an iPhone 3GS.

With a Canon A40 our three ferals on the roof of the carriage house, from left to right Freckles, her Momma and her sister Missy.

We have white tailed lawn rats that even get on the front porch.

I still have my A40. That was my first digital camera that I picked out and 'got on purpose.' My wife previously bought an Epson 1.2MP camera or something that was pretty much terrible. I bought a Kodak DC4800, mostly for the larger screen and the wider lens, but never liked it as much as the A40.

Nice to see they are still being used.

Bee Critters

This Astor really attracts the butterflies and bees. They move quickly and pretty hard to handhold the camera in macro. Always happy to get a couple of photos.
