Denon DP80 & DP75 Owner's Thread

I 'm getting 2300 in a couple of weeks. I will report on the subjective difference of 2300 and 110.

I looked at the link you provided at post 359 and really starting to wonder what is actual difference between DK110 and DK300. The 110 also has rosewood finish (at least mine does) and alternating layers of really dark and light woods. 2300 is larger beast so different animal but still will be interesting to see your comments.

JVC sold under the Victor brand in Japan uses similar construction for their higher end plinths. I have a TT71 motor drive in a CL2P factory plinth. CL2P designates "Constrained Layer with 2 tonearm boards". It's about 2.25" thick and fairly heavy. I see no reason to change it.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the only difference between them is DK100 is light-color wood and fits a max 10" TA (if the counterbalance isn't too long), the DK110 fits a 12" TA, the DK300 is dark wood and otherwise the same as the DK100 and the DK2300 fits two TAs.

Maybe there is a hidden sheet of lead in the middle. Perhaps some generous DK300 owner will cut theirs in half and let us know. ;)
List price is 57% more, as well.

Extra 4kg dk300 versus dk110 is far from a subtle difference. Really curious now what the actual differences in woods is.

The 2300's weight shown is 15kg with no dust cover in pic, was it supplied with one?
I believe it was. All the Denon DK plinths I've seen the rear of (in real life or pic's) have either had the dustcover & hinges or the holes and indications of having had the hinges mounted.

My 2300 did not come with a cover and had no holes or indication of having an attached cover. I had one made to sit on top and I remove it for playing. The DK2000 plinth I had did come with a cover and had holes.

Yes....... I see that the one listed on the 'bay with a dustcover has no hinges or or hinge mounting holes so the cover lifts away as you mention. As you say, the DK2000 has both. Would be interesting to know why Denon made the decision. Guessing these were, like the 300 vs the 110/100 were "inside Denon" engineering/marketing/accounting decisions at the time that we will never know.

The time lines don't match AFAIK.
It’s treated and compressed wood. I don’t know if Panzerholz is a brand name and if it is maybe it isn’t that but something very similar. But it is almost impossible to cut. I tried to extend the hole in my armboard by a half centimeter and I literally couldn’t cut through it with a handsaw or a chisel.
