Despicable state of kids today - Video

which apparently was before the fall of Western Civilization.

Well, that seems a little extreme.

Don't mind me, i'm going to watch reruns of Andy Griffith and reminisce about the gilded age of man, were everything was beautiful and nothing hurt, were soceity was a pillar to man, and it's height was his affluence, were kids would not dare disrespect an adult for the fear of god was put to them.

Okay, so i'm wondering when did bullying start, what year, or what decade did this become a problem? I experienced it in elementary and middle school, so it's at least the mid 90's. If that is a little vague, when did children start disrespecting adults...I never have, and neither have my friends, so it must have started in the 2000's:scratch2:

@RobGmn, I don't think anyone has supported their actions at all. However, "These kids said some horrible things to an adult, as an adult I would physically assault said child until they hit the ground" seems a little disporportionate. And I really do hope their is discipline for their actions, perhaps their parents have already got word, and maybe something on the school council level.

Show me one post that supports or encourages what these kids did, just one, where did someone say it was ok...not that it happens (which we have seen it does), not one that says, "bullies are not new"...one that says "this was okay".

What are you talking about? Learn to read, man. None of us are agreeing with this. We're just denying that its anything new. There have always been asshole kids just as there have always been asshole adults. You see more of it now, because every kid comes equipped with a video recorder these days. Did I do anything like what is on this tape? No, but I teased the a kid, and got bullied myself. I think it's terrible.

And to write this, putting these words in our mouths, and then say that "respect" is your priority is just about the funniest thing I've read all day.

I mean what is the point anyways .... does she not have the ability to report their terrible behavior? Does she have any authority to tell them to shut it or get in trouble w/ the school? why doesn't the bus driver come to pull the bus over to assist?

I mean u can't do this now I'm sure but when i was in jr. high the bus driver pulled over and threw a couple of my buddies off the bus for being a pain in the ass... clearly what we probably need is for there to be more serious consequences for being a jerk (this goes for adults maybe as much or more) .. maybe if the kids parents could be fined if their kids act up.... I mean the upside might well be if the schools can't beat kids anymore parents might just if they need to get their little brats to behave or get in trouble themselves?

I put "punishment" in quotes because punishment is a debatable matter to be eked out by parents as they see fit. As I'm not a parent I can't comment on appropriate punishments.

You can't quite do that now. However, at least when I was was in High School, if some kids started to be real trouble, they would pull the bus over and call a second bus. The second bus, a "Breadbox" would take them to the "attitude challenged" school by the bus depot where their parents would have to pick them up, with some news about why they had to. Not sure how often that happened, though.

Alright...he doesn't say its okay, and says they probably deserve some punishment. He did not endorse their actions, he was stating that this type of action was nothing new or novel. "Kids will be kids" is not acceptance at what they did, but rather stating that kids are not always angels, and there are scumlords at all ages, and all decades.

"everyone has bullied someone even if its called teasing" also does not condone their actions, but rather states that many of us have done small acts of bullying, it does not support these kids actions, since these kids went far beyond simple teasing. Teasing is a cute name for soft bullying, it's only fun if everyone is in on the joke.

It WASN'T that long ago, that this type of activity would get you an ass-beating from any adult in the vicinity who was up for it.

I have decent memory of some things as a child. When I was a kid, I never met a corrupt businessman, so I can't imagine that happening unless it's a recent thing...back then, all businessmen were nice and wore suits. Who knows why they are like this today, maybe not enough senate hearings?

Personally, I blame video games.

And yeah, if I or anyone I knew would have done something like this you wouldn't have seen him for a week...but i'm betting that doesn't mean it didn't happen to someone I didn't know.

Basically, you cannot take one example (the video) and extrapolate that kids today all act like this, I bet if you went to a elementary school, or middle school on the last day even, you'd met a whole lot of great kids who were excited for the summer, and a couple of jerks trying to get away with something...and I bet that's been true for many decades.

oh wait...so this video came on some hideous show my wife had on a minute ago (inside edition or something?) anyways it was show parts of the video @ some point the little brats started physically touching her...if I understand correctly that would have made it assault? why didn't the bus drive or lady just summon the police ...and since teh little idiots where video taping their guilt would be pretty easy to prove.


let's be honest with ourselves we as a society have failed at getting troublemakers in line people are so afraid of conflict they won't stand up to jerks.... we really have to at some point stop letting 5%~ (random made up %) or whatever the actual percentage is of the population that are a**holes make life more difficult for the rest of us.
