Despicable state of kids today - Video

I know and if that's your opinion, I guess I've found out what I needed to know

Agreed, that's why I'd run it by one...
People bitch about them all the time, until they need one and see what they can do for you.

Lawyers can only present a case. The jurors decide the facts.

The fact is that a lot of jurors have been bullied at some point in their lives and didn't get rich from it. Would they like to see bullies get a smack down? Hell yes they would. But jurors are also going to be resentful of someone that gets called fat and greasy and thinks they can retire on enduring ten minutes of it.

Hi ebacon!

Thanks for sharing your story earlier & I find it so ironic that the homeless man showed more compassion, in that, not trying to get hamburger on you than these children did to a woman just trying to either earn some extra money or continue to be useful in however she felt she could.

I agree with you that she did interact with them, but for me I think she was trying to quench the fiery darts by asking to see the books. I truly believe that was a way for her to vent the hurt & pain she had to be feeling.

She wanted to show compassion amid the derogatory comments, thinking that if she continued to reach out to them, they would stop the assault. Alas, we all can see & hear, this would be futile.

I don't see this going to trial, but just maybe some other kids will really take a moment of reflection, inwardly, to truly see that this type of abuse is not right & should not be tolerated by their friends that think it is.

My prayer is that she takes the donated money, give some to a charity of her choice & take some time to enjoy her life.

Not going to bother reading the entire thread

because

nothing has changed.

This is how things were when I was a kid. This is how things were when you guys were kids, it just manifest itself differently.

Kids will be kids. Not saying they don't deserve some, uh, "punishment", but kids will be kids.

This is how things were when I was a kid. This is how things were when you guys were kids, it just manifest itself differently.

This is NOT the way things were when I was a kid. Don't believe that for a second. Maybe it was where you lived, or how your parents taught you, but it is NOT universal.

I love the one comment...

This is why it should be legal to beat kids...

When I was a kid and in school, it was totally legal for that lady to bend me over the back of one of those seats and heat my ass up nice and bright red with a paddle..

And it happened to me a few times in school, and it also kept me and all my friends pretty much in line.

Of course today if you could do that, all the kids would trying to outdo each other and see who could get the most wacks..

Disclaimer: The video isn't coming up for me. My opinion might change if I see it.

I completely disagree with your statement. Parents are responsible for disciplining their kids (IMO, not physically, but I guess some need that once in a long while), but I don't think it's the schools' responsibility to if the parents fail to do so.

Also, I know for a fact that most kids don't behave as badly as these kids are from what I hear. At least around here in North County San Diego. I guess its a bit different elsewhere.

Then again, a lot of you are noticeably from before my time, so I naturally have a different opinion. :D:D:D

+1 These are middle school kids, and back in my day, there was a whole lot more respect for elders. There were "consequences" for "sassing", and most parents I knew would no way, no how tolerate that behavior. It was unthinkable.

Amen, Andy, & Larry, too...

Except for that Eddie Haskell fella, what a ruffian!

We all bullied somebody. Most of us even bullied others because we were getting bullied ourselves (me). Who'd you bully? 'Nobody' is the WRONG answer.

No we didn't. Bullies were a small, small minority when I was in school, which apparently was before the fall of Western Civilization.

You're really too young to see this in context.

Well, I'm nearly 40 and I totally agree with him. Everybody has bullied somebody even if it was called teasing. There's a **** TON of selective memory of the past that pervades every single pixel on audiokarma, and it apparently bleeds into memories of childhood as well. Maybe you're all really too old to actually remember what it was like to see this in context?

I bullied a kid. I feel bad about it to this day, even though he's now a friendly acquaintance of mine and seems to think nothing of it. I watched other kids do much worse things and didn't say anything for fear of being made a target myself, which would have happened.

Gotta disagree with ya with all truth & sincerity, RamblinE!

I am 55 years old & grew up in a relatively small town in East Texas during a time where I saw my parents & grandparents being kept in their place by forces that lingers to this day.

With all of that said & that I observed, feeling that I should have picked on someone due to the things I knew were wrong, I could not bring myself to ever once think of picking on another person. Never did I taunt, tease, or use any other demented type of abuse to those I came in contact with.

As I type this note, I have NEVER once bullied anyone on this blue marble. I knew how it felt to see my people being ridiculed to no end & I didn't want to lash out or harm someone else just because I had the power and/or right to.

I can remember this one white girl in my high school that was severly burned. She was shunned & ostracized because others felt she was not pretty or an outcast.

She was in the band with me & to this day, I pray she can remember me being one person in her life at that time as I can't speak on further than that, that was nice to her & never once made her cry as others did.

Like others have stated, kids did certain crazy things, but the kids I grew up with never disrespected our elders, nor did they even want to.

So, you are sadly mistaken by your post & I say this with all sincerity.

That is probably true however I refuse to believe that children in the past twenty years suddenly developed this mean bone.

Either it's always been there and has just manifest itself differently over the generations.

Or it's always been there and only now has it become popular and acceptable to
discuss.

Norton,

How old are you?

Here's a story that my dad told me. He's about 68 years old now.

There was a kid at school that bullied my dad until he couldn't take it anymore. Dad finally wrestled the bully and got him in a headlock. They stayed that way for a mysterious amount of time. After dad got his wits about him he noticed that a sharpened pencil in his shirt pocket had poked into the bully's neck.

They both gingerly unwound from their predicament, shook hands in truce, and became friends from that moment on.

If my dad had to deal with a bully back then then how much fewer bullies were there?

A friend of mine was telling me about commuting to school on the southside of Chicago as a kid, and the convoluted route he had to take to not get beat up on the bus. This was way before 20 years ago. And it was certainly happening in the mid '80s in Ohio. And well before that if movies, books, you name it are to be believed....even A Christmas Story.

Anyone who doesn't find this despicable is a ****ing idiot.
After the first 5 seconds of the video, I know that I would want to drop every one of those little shits with a single backhand to the head.

You assholes are saying that you would sit on a bus and call an elderly person "fat" and "fatass" and it's just "teasing"?
If you were MY kid, I would have beat your snarky ass until you couldn't sit for a week without crying, and I would have done it in front of your friends.

You disgust me (and if you believe in what you post, your kids probably disgust me too).

I bullied a couple kids growing up- But it was all in fun, & they knew it as much as I did. It most certainly was NOT vicious or anywhere remotely similar to the incident described here. And yes, I WAS bullied, too- a helluva lot worse that what I gave out. But this **** today was just INCONCEIVABLE 35-45 years ago when I was in school.

Huh? Who said that?
