They are very nice sounding tubes, can't be beat for the money. In my experience the 6P14P-EV's are very bright sounding for the first 20 hours. I use them in my Fisher TA-600 in place of the 7189's.

Thank you...It is for sale brand-new $0.98 each. NONO,$9.8.....
Wiki says it has low noise and long durability.

I have a set. They're pretty strong on the bottom end and they do smooth out with a little use. Initially I thought they were a little harsh sounding but with some use they seem to have improved. For the price, they're pretty hard to beat. They may not be the best tube on earth, but for the price you'd have a hard time doing better.

If I'm not mistaking, the 6p14p-EV is a Russian equivelent on the 7189A, which is a higher spec version of the 7189 with a slightly different pin connections. The 7189 (non A) is in turn a higher spec 6bq5.

7189a = 6p14p-EV . Has some internal connections the 7189 6p14p don't. Watch this when selecting tubes.

V

7189 (no a) = 6914p (no EV) Same pin base as 6BQ5. Can sub for 6bq5, but not the other way around)

V

6bQ5 = EL84 = ?

Thank you for the info. I checked and made sure no wires were connected to NC pin-out tabs. I ordered them, I'll report how it sounds later on.

I substituted four 6p14p (no EV) for 6BQ5 power tubes in my Pilot 240. My impression is the 6p14p run a little cleaner sounding. The price surely was there.
