Bb: Nice to hear (well, to read, that is...). I've also got a 455 - but mine is a newer 455-1M, upgraded with the older, heavier platter version with lead ring and the good rubber mat (both new old stock from Dualfred) your 1st gen. 455 should also sport. And yup, combined with a good, high compliance cart/needle, the 450/455ers are pretty decent turntables - even if fans of the older Dual tables will typically not have much love for the newer models.
I just wouldn't recommend the current Dual-Fehrenbacher incarnations anymore, as the raised praices in combination with Fehrenbacher's downgrades over the years have made these models a lot less attractive...
