Since hearing of the sad passing of Eddie , let's post some of our favorite EVH music . Van Halen blew my 16 year old mind . Still does at 59 .

Just posted this vid to the songs to play loud thread.

Eddie at his best IMO.

As I said in the other thread. I love the Fair Warning album. Vastly under appreciated. IMO

He goes into the awesome guitar riff opening on Mean Streets half way into this clip. To me this is Eddie
at his best.

I hope his son Wolfgang is dealing with it well. IMO that was so cool of Eddie to help bring his son
into the scene and give him a top shelf experience.

@zebra03

Good idea for a thread.

In homage, later today I'll listen to on of the earliest (known) live recordings of the band Van Halen, @ Pasadena High School (Pasadena, CA), in winter-spring 1975. IIRC the band played there twice: In February and again in April of that year. The tapes of the two performances, plus a two-number "demo" the band sent to Gene Simmons -- yes, that Gene Simmons -- have been circulating in ROIO trading circles for years, first in cassette format, now (more commonly) in lossless digital format. The "bootleg" that circulated was titled School's Out.

Setlists for the (two) Pasadena High performances...

February 1975:
01. I Wanna Be Your Lover
02. In For The Kill (Budgie cover)
03. Take Your Whiskey Home
04. Wildfire (Spooky Tooth cover)

April 1975:
01. Chevrolet (ZZ Top cover)
02. Maybe I'm A LEO (Deep Puple cover)
03. Brown Sugar (Stones cover)
04. And We All Had A Real Good Time (Edgar Winter cover)
05. Walk Away (James Gang cover)
06. Rock And Roll Hoochie Coo (Derringer cover)
07. Don't Call Us, We'll Call You (Sugarloaf cover)
08. I Live With Fools

Here are the (two) numbers on The Gene Simmons Demo:
01. House Of Pain
02. Runnin' With The Devil

Yeah, I'll definitely give this one a listen today.

PS: It has been argued - not unconvincingly - that Van Halen the band never sounded better or performed with more energy than they did in 1975.

Besides the normal airplay of the first few albums, I came on board with Diver Down in 1982.

The Pretty Woman cover (with Intruder intro) hooked me.

Then I was introduced to deeper cuts from the first several albums over the next couple years.

I actually did not care for 1984 or really any thing thereafter. (and I was a Sammy Hagar fan well before I Can't Drive 55)

I think my favorite album may be Fair Warning, with Women And Children First a close second.
