They were not too strong those paper Riffa caps. Snubbers with resistors inside didn't get bad in Yamaha receivers of the same time.Thanks for your comments. So are you basically saying that the specification of the original component was wrong, and not fit for purpose?
Buy same capacitance and highest rated voltage you can find. Mind the physical size too. Minimum used originally was AC240V/DC600V. Today's will be marked x1/y1/ x2/y2
If you look intently on the board you will see that there are 2 alternative traces. One for cap and resistor which they used and the other for cap and resistor in one.
