Favorite 70's equalizer and why/pics

Not quite 70s but I've always had a soft spot for my Akai EA-A7 eq.

4 memories, individual channel adjustment, curve reverse, bidirection tape dubbing with and without eq, spectrum analyzer with peak hold and a really funky early 1980s look.

I have a JVC SEA-10 EQ in a 70's system I have set up in a spare bedroom,the SEA EQ's are parametric rather than Graphic and give more control

the CD player has been swapped to a silver faced Teac

Sansui SE-7 ~ SE-8 ~ SE-8x ~ SE-9 are all on my "EQ's wanted" list.
Why ?
Attractive,can be had in black -or- silver face,optional rack handles,great specs,long throw sliders,level control,and spectrum analyzer on the SE-8/SE-8x/SE-9.

Also really like my Rotel RE-2000 vvvv .

Why ?
Classic looks,can be had in silver & black (but black ones are quite rare),great specs,long throw sliders,level control,rack mountable w/handles.
What's not to like about an EQ like this,

Techincs SH-9090 & SH-9010 parametrics.
Why ?
Flat out the most serious EQ's one is likely to find,these are serious gear for serious EQ users.

Agree on the Pioneer SG-9500 & SG-9800.
Why ?
Same as the Sansui's but perfect for that Pioneer "Spec stack".

There are others,but that'll cover things for now.

My first BIG system was a Kenwood Basic system consisting of a M2A, C2, T1, some Kenwood CD player and this Kenwood GE-1100 EQ. I never used the reverb but loved the way it looked and it was useful considering I was driving Cerwin Vega 2000-15s which were HUGE for bass but not that great on producing an accurate mid and high soundstage.

Kept the system for about 17 years and it went to her in the divorce. No telling where it is now.

My preferred equalizers from that era are usually White Instruments parametrics. And not in the sense of the word consumer equipment.

My first eq was the JVC SEA 5-band. Then I had a Pioneer 9500 10-band and the last eq I owned was a Technics SH-8055 just like the one pictured. It was my fave but it developed a slight buzz after 15-20 years so I scrapped it. By then, AVR's practically all include eq functions of some kind, however limited. 2-channel devotees are thought to be purists, more or less and so stand-alone eq's along with the tape monitor circuits they need to function have all but disappeared.
p.s. -- I think the Technics was actually an 80's eq.

Sansui SE-9

Cool spectrum analyzer. Automatically adjusts/calibrates for flat response for the room with the included microphone and pink noise. Presets and the adjusters move up and down by itself.

Once upon a time I owned an Audio Control C-101 equilizer...

I also used a 5 band parametric professional eq but I’ll be danged if I can remember the brand (used in a radio studio.) That one was my favorite.

My favorite was a Realistic brand EQ. Only because it had gain controls and indicators so you could balance input and output. All to keep your preamp from being over driven. It was a nice feature that more should have had.

This little MXR table top model is kind of interesting,I think this is parametric as well. it's in storage now but I find a use for it occasionally.
