favorite vintage JBL speakers?

I am fascinated by this statement. I thought that the Paragon was a complete speaker system, not a speaker to be used in pairs.

Please enlighten us and correct my misunderstanding about the Paragon.

Yes, please do as I agree with 70salesguy on this. I almost bit the billitt in 1974 and bought 'A' Paragon....all 700 lbs. of 'A' Paragon. But $2700.00 was a bit more than I could bring myself to part with for 'A' Paragon when the L100 was $274.00 each.
"You cannot 'b.s' a 'b.s.r'" And I smell a lot of 'salt' around the 'pair of Paragons' story. (SEA STORY for all you non-sailors)

I'd have to say of what I've heard I really love the L-112's
what do you guys think?

Faves among the ones I currently have are the L110s and 4333As- both have great strengths, few weaknesses, and currently serve different purposes for me but are playing for hours every single day. My two pair of L100s are among my least favorite of my current crew.

Faves among those I've heard...240Tis, 4412As, L7s, some others I can't remember. Lots of live club & theater systems I've had the pleasure of crankin' up, too.

I might get flamed for saying this, but I really love the JBL 4310/11/12 series. Not because they're the best examples JBL speakers, but because they really turned me on to JBL and the West Coast sound. Prior to owning the 4312a monitors in my signature, I was strictly a Henry Kloss / East Coast speaker guy. The JBLs made me take a serious look at what else was out there.

That said, I'd really like to hear a pair of Summits, Jubals, and of course, the Paragon. :D

It's them double woofer clamps what's got ya mesmerized, obviously....
All part of the mystique! ;)

The woofer's a sham anyway. It's really a 10-inch three-way with a fake 18-inch painted on just to impress the newbies. A trompe l'oeil . . . or should that be oreille?

Love vintage JBL. Really like the 44xx Studio Monitors. :thmbsp:

would like to get a listen to a pair of JBL 4435 monitors. picture from the Lansing Heritage forum.... :tresbon::drool:

I really enjoy my XPL-200A's. They may not appeal to everyone, but I love the sound of them very much and that's all that matters. :music:

Of course, I have always wanted to hear a pair of 250TI's. Maybe one day that will happen.

I would love a paragon to use as a buffet in my dining room. It looks cool.

My favorite JBL speakers that i've heard would probably go something like this, from favorite to least favorite.

K2
4430
250Ti
4345
L300
L7
240Ti
L222 modded to fix the bass boom
L100T3
L96
Hartsfields
Paragon
L100

Yes, I too would like to listen to a pair of these.

Yeah, those 4435s look positively incredible. They have gotta be some incredibly kick-ass speakers. Their baby brothers the 4425s are the best speakers I have ever owned.

I in love with mine at first listen. The mid-bass driver is the only weakness, and it only comes into play at volume levels that you really need a PA speaker for. The mid and tweeter are fantastic! They are also about as large as you can go without getting into WAF issues, and the looks are classic.

How bout the speaker stands? Phone books & a pillow
=! sides. What ever works. Over all very cool speakers
I wish I had a set.
