Front panel cleaning - is this yellowish tint removable?

They don't look particularly yellow to me in these pics, but I use a fine auto polish (not wax) and rub with the grain of the brushed aluminum. It removes any grime without materially affecting the finish of the metal. My favorite is only available by mail order from adamspolishes.com. It's called Revive Fine Hand Car Polish. I use it on knobs and buttons too, with microfiber towels to do the rubbing and polish removal. Of course, you need to remove the knobs and front panel to clean it properly. I don't touch the dark plastic lens unless it is very scratched, and then I use Novus plastic polish to help it. But it will not improve an already well polished plastic surface.

Now that is not nice. Since you misread my intent, I was not telling you that you needed to be signed in, I was addressing that comment to perr0 and he did an excellent job of correcting the issue without getting tilted. I don't think you got all the way to bent outta shape, just tilted. You can come back and watch this thread now, everyone is forgiven.

Maybe I'm being picky, but the edges of all dials look like they have a yellow/brass tint to me. I'm considering buying this receiver, so would like to know if I could improve it's look. Thank you for your suggestion.

I see what you are talking about now -- mainly the knobs and buttons. I can't be sure, but I'll bet a fine polish - used carefully on the buttons so you don't break a shaft - will brighten those up. I would still carefully remove the knobs and faceplate for good cleanings. That gives you better access to the buttons, which shouldn't have to be removed.

This talks about getting the knobs off and maybe the faceplate, too. Cleaning, any mild cleaner, dishwashing soap, would work for most dirt. A nice car polish is a finishing touch some like to use and a cleaner wax will clean more if still dirty that a non-cleaner will will not do.

The spoon trick in that guide is awesome. If I pull with moderate force and the knob doesn't move, I get out the two spoons and a folded paper towel to cushion them, and with equal pressure, the knob comes right off.

Use a cotton rag over your 8mm socket if you intend to remove the face plate. 
In the case of hard to remove gunk, i use PB Blaster., with this warning...Use it as a last resort!
I have gotten warned about the penetrating spray product called PB Blaster possibly harming the lettering.
I personally had good results on quite a few plates, but that is not saying its not going to wipe the lettering off of yours.
So, if you decide to try it, use it with that warning. I have found it will take off nasty brown films on some plates and not on others. Most folks use dish soap and water, but never ever "rub" it or use a rough cloth over lettering, no matter what your using.
Who knows what the guy before you did to it, and if the lettering has been compromised, then you will ruin it.
Caution:
Do not use anything but soap and hot water and a gentle soft CLEAN cloth to clean the clear window, letting it air dry.
Just remember no mater what you use to clean you plate, remember to rinse it off good and let it air dry, using a soft towel if need be, but never use anything on the dial to dry it, unless it is a camera lens cloth or softer. Just looking at it will leave fine scratches and it will never be as nice as it was before it was touched. sorry for ranting on it, but i don't want you to learn the hard way like i had to.

I can vouch for Blue Shadow not meaning any harm here. The guy is a Top Shelf member that has helped me a Thousand times and has never posted a negative comment that i ever witnessed. Things are not always as they seem and we do our best to remove personal attacks and negative attitudes before posting.
That "No Attitude" is what separates and elevates Audiokarma above the low class trash found on the web.

I agree about not touching the clear window. ANYTHING you do to a reasonably presentable window will likely make it worse. I only resort to Novus if the window is not presentable as is.
