I'm driving some klipsch KLF 30,s and just using a newer marantz cd player.

MMM....Those are 8Ω/102db, but I can't find how low the Ω will go. .
You like loud don't you? (not judgement) just amazed.
Regarding the meters... if you want to work with your meters you should calibrate them... And as moe says check the speakers.
I think is possible that you need a beefier amp given that seems that you like it loud (just an idea) and All in all is an almost 40 years old unit.

I don't normally listen to music that loud but like I said earlier I like to give my stuff a stiff test once in awhile.The speakers are flawless I recently upgraded them with crites xovers and they are crystal clear at low or high volumes..

I really need to get it on a scope..
I just compared the volume level between a clear FM radio station and my cd player.with the volume set to 20 The cd player was quite a bit louder.
Time to get out the big guns!
You need to replace the bias trim pots as well.
Did that also.
I'm looking in to getting it on a scope next..

Definitely, could be going unstable or oscillating.....Do you know what you're looking for? Need to try it at different frequencies, say 100hz, 400hz, 1khz, 4khz, then 8khz.....might only do it at high frequencies....
You could probably find an example of an amp oscillating on you tube if you want to know what to look for, and I apologize if you already know...
I'm still green in that area but I'm looking into buying a scope and learning how to use it.I had an old heathkit scope but the tube went out and I want to find a newer one anyway.

I've had a few old crt based scopes and they sure are nice
and heavy
Fews thing to consider after so many years update to better tools.
You'll require probes which allow you to tap into signals without interrupting path,
you'll know this probes as soon as you see them, they have 3 ends each. - 2 for tap signal and one plugs into scope.

Also Scope have channels and it's nice to have many channel but for starts, 2 channels is minimuns so that mean
you will also needs 2 set of tapping ability probe.
For audio, 30meg might work ok for price if it comes dual channel with 2 set good probe.
Rigol makes good scopes, not cheap - to upgrade to a good used scope, go higher frequency ($$$) with 3 or 4 channel.
Rigol DS 1054 or similiar would probably be more than you'll ever need.
Rigol has update able software that can make it do tricks of more expensive scopes
-user hack/update able.

I wouldn't say no to a G9700, bit of a sleeper I feel.....
I'm waiting to get it on the scope my X1 is performing perfectly..
While waiting for parts on my other project I decided to go through the RF power supply board F-3071 and replace everything accept the good resistors. found that I needed a few more replacement parts for 2SD313 and 2SA733..here are a few pics before and after.Also notice the cut jumper wire on the 2nd pic?Was that cut at the factory?or from someone else?
It is factory. Sansui did stuff like this allot.
