I noticed someone using the above transistors for a rebuild the other day - and wondered why they didn't use the normally preferred MJ21193G/94G.

I noticed on ebay that little diode from the UK has the original SanKen 2SC2607,2SA1116 transistors I wonder if they are counterfeit or the real deal?

I've had fake devices from Little Diode before so I don't use them any more.
New On-Semi devices are far superior to any transistor made in the 1970's....

What are the rail voltages on the 9700? Probably can use something a little closer to the originals, but really its splitting hairs at the end of the day....
MJ15003/15004 are probably closer.....
Nice pictures but old I think, the quantities pictured are not available today. If you want to pay between $10 and $35 for ones and two's of potentially counterfeit transistors that's fine.

I won't buy from Little Diode any more, I have got fakes off them before, I'm done with the whole "gotta be genuine" thing, modern TO-3's are superior in construction, manufacturing has come a long way since the '70s.
I just looked them up and they are both available, but I can't see any difference between them....
See I would be using MJ15003/15004, they are 140V instead of 250v but they are 20 amp rather than 16 amp the other ones are, but they are 2mhz instead of the 4mhz, not sure if that is a factor......probably not I'd say...
I think I read that the 93/94 pair are a bit more linear (ref: curve family) than the 95/96 pair, but agree not much in it.

I think McIntosh not only use them because of the lower ft and voltage, but they are higher current, and since the McIntosh Autotransformer amps run at 2.1Ω on the other side of the Xfrmr, I'd say the those devices are probably better in that respect...
The 95/96 have a wider SOA, but not really necessary in most anything out there that uses a TO-3 that I am aware of.
