Mentioned this a few posts back. I scored a Pioneer PL-518 from shopgoodwill for $200. One pleasant surprise was that it just worked out of the box (after installing new feet and giving the tone arm a basic setup). The other surprise was that it came with a functional Shure M91ED cartridge and stylus. I'm going to run it with an AT-VM95ML and spare headshell until I can upgrade the M91 stylus. But I'm feeling more confident about the plan to re-veneer the plinth with the same black walnut I have for my Pioneer S-710 speakers (also a shopgoodwill find).

This Pl-518xd from shopgoodwill just showed up today. I still need to crack the plinth cover, but over all it's working well after jut some basic lubrication, tone arm balancing, and the cart/head shell from my Pl-518 (pictured with what came with it). This is my "donor" unit. I"m going to re-veneer the plinth from this PL-518xd, re-home my PL-518 in it, then repeat the process for the 518 plinth. For $150, it seemed like a "cheap date" to me. Let me know if it's OK to link to my build thread for the veneer process. Hoping to do the PL-518, this PL-518xd, and a pair of Pioneer S-710 speakers by the end of summer.

This Akai GX-265D Had been sitting at a local thrift for a while. Saw they had marked it down. I asked to check it out. Did and made an offer. Though I'd been looking for a 10" reel deck. This was nice. Everything seemed to work. Sounds good.

I want to know what made at least 2 people bid $2700 on this. I love HK twins as much as the next guy but c'mon!

This site should tell you why, and this nonsesne has been happening on ebay for years, doesn't mean somebody will pay. Funny, I had two of these for under $15, I think one I paid $8 for and they were slowish sells at $75 piece. Back before everybody lost their minds.

My thought too. I'm curious to see if it's listed again when the endorphins from winning wear off and reality sinks in for the 'winner'. That price is essentially triple the current market for a working unit.

Arrived today from Shopgoodwill Pioneer SX-780. Some may have seen it. It was a buy now option for $10! I thought it must have been a typo, but I hit buy. I got shipping notification in two days. It had some of the worst packing, but it survived. Relay wouldnt click, but it was bad solder joints and now she plays.

Wow! You got lucky. Just checked the sight for receivers & TT's. Only a few were BIN and nothing to write home about.

I wasn't expecting much for the price. It was covered in dirt inside and out like someone put it outback in the shed. Air compressor and paint brush got it right. Heck even all the bulbs worked. The packing was one layer of the green bubble rap and it wasn't even taped on.
