Great SR-71 Blackbird video

I was able to poke around in the cockpit of an A12 that was being installed into the collection at the Museum of Flight back in '91. Truly amazing what it could accomplish with all that analog technology.

We also recieved the start cart which consisted of two Buick 401 ci motors. On a nice quite morning we rolled it outside of the loading dock and started it up for a short bit. Insanely loud and the front desk and Security recieved all kinds of calls from the internal office folks wondering WTF.

If you ever find yourself near Warner Robins, Ga, stop by the Museum of Aviation. It's never very crowded and the staff is very laid back. They have a Blackbird there and if asked nicely, they'll let you walk right up to it and examine it as closely as you want.

Beale AFB was my base but the 71 was gone by then but the U2 is Amazing in its own way.

While in Saudi with them, when on mission they took off and just went up, you could stand there and listen to it climb for a good 20 minutes it sounded like it was still over your head. Wild.

Unfortunately watched one of our pilots die one day. I was on flightline watched him take off got about 500-600 feet up engine quit looks like he went straight down in attempt to relight and almost did no time he ejected about 200 ft head first into the ground as the plane had rolled at that point. It all happened so fast nothing he could really do but he tried. horrible :(

Years ago, my father past his 56 Imperial to my brothers and I. We decided to let the car go and offered it for sale through the Imperial owner's club. It was a restored national first prize car. I was contacted by a man from California, Lt. Col. Anthony Bevacqua who was Chrysler enthusiast. Long story short, he didn't buy the car but he flew SR 71's and U2 jets out of Area 51 and California. He knew and flew with Gary Powers. He sent me autographed photos of him and both planes which I still have.
