As you can see above, the 210 made some dramatic changes over the years. I find it difficult to understand why they continued to use the same number, "210" since they had very little resemblance to each other.

I hear you. On the first 299B I restored (now owned by my daughter), I tried reforming the caps and seemed to work. However, during some testing I started hearing snapping/cracking noises and found one of the cans very hot (but had not yet exploded, fortunately). From then on, I just replace the power supply caps and all the small electrolytics underneath first thing.

Hi! I’m looking for an experienced Scott tech in the Northeast region to repair/restore a 399. It’s extremely clean and cosmetically mint, but one channel is lower volume than the other. Doesn’t appear to be the tubes. No rush on this project, but would like to get in the queue. Does anyone have any recommendations? (Audio Classics in my area no longer works on Scotts.) Thanks for any advice!

I am in the Providence area and have worked on 299s, 340b as well as Fisher, Dynaco, etc. Have the can caps been replaced?

ifoumd one for sale but it dint mention s.s or tubes but a screshotted a better picture but not by much.If you zoom in and the top i could swer the second 2 words say solid state.

defianatwly transisistor if you look above the signal strenght meter there is the field effect transistor logo.
