You could use an RCA source switch. Keep your cables short.

Those often introduce hum.

I have 3 turntables going into one preamp. They all have their own phono preamp, and those phono preamps are plugged into line level inputs on my line level preamp. One of the main problems with hooking up multiple preamps, is the fact that their ground is not also switched on and off as their inputs are. So, if you have 2 or 3 tables plugged into one phono preamp with a switcher, the grounds of the 3 turntables are still connected. The tables that are unused become antenna(s) for the one that is being used and they gather all the emf about, resulting in hum.
My old Marantz 3300 preamp has 2 phono inputs and only 1 phono preamp board inside, but man, did they ever do some major shielding. It works, but I'm sure it was at a considerable expense. They did not switch off the ground thru their system, but 2 tables was the max.

have a sansui au 717 and a pro ject turntable and am getting two more turntables from a friend.

What would happen if you ran all the grounds to house ground? I'm assuming that now they all ground to the same receiver. What if you ran a wire from the receivers ground terminal to house ground, or the TTs to house ground directly? Just a thought....
Have done this two ways. I my shop an Aker sold me a DAK preamp. It's a DJ setup. Two phono inputs with faders! Have it plugged into aux on my bench receiver. I have a free phono input so I have the ability to run three turntables. Comes in handy when I have several projects or repairs going at once. Got it for $20. Very generous, shipping was $12! Nice unit!
My other setup is an old Radio Shack switch box for tape decks. Thought the thing would hum like crazy. It doesn't. Have it in my livingroom. My Marantz 4270 has only one phono input. I wanted both Dual's on this setup. Have my 1010S and 1229. The 1010 is a replica of my first Dual. Wanted to see it. Was sitting in the shop and not seeing much use. The 1229 is my main player but the 1010 is seeing more use upstairs.
