Have both Forte’s and Cornwalls should fit the high efficiency bill nicely. Are you planning on sharing progress on that interesting build sir?
I will definitely start a thread on the 8604 when I get to it, probably this Fall. Currently working on a pair of open baffle speakers, which will be slow due to it being Summer and all the other things to do.

Sansui QRX-8001, 40 watts. Sansui G-9000, 160 watts. Fisher 500c, 30 watts. 8001 was 20 bucks 25 years ago. Pinned circuit boards, fixed cold solder joints, de-oxit and its been running like a champ ever since. Best 20 bucks I ever spent on audio!

Given amplifiers power transducers are watts or amps on demand a more accurate measure of "power"? Was the marketplace driver for wattage, not current, 70's marketing (e.g., watt wars)?
Which amp do you have? Most likely its power rating is stated by the manufacturer in….

Watts are the electrical measure of power.

High current in itself is not really indicative of power. 100A sounds like a great thing but if it's only at 1V it won't work very well for audio unless you have speakers with impedance rating in milliohms.

Main system is a MC452, 450 WPC
Listening now to a 60 WPC Onkyo TX4500 MKII receiver that I just can't get enough of with Polk 7's stacked, Peerless tweeters.
Bedroom is a tube Miniwatt, probably not more than 3 WPC.
Another Tube rig is a monoblock system, maybe 15 WPC
Cayin MT35 MKII is 35WPC
Sansui Eight is 60 WPC
Living room rig has an Onkyo 2500 MKII, 40 WPC

Agree. Exceptions exist. Most occur in the tails of the curve. Assuming the vintage era sweet spot of 4-8ohm transducers across most situations? Not debating. Asking.
