How many Watts are your main amps?

The power amp in my main system would fit into three of the categories.

In triode mode it is 40 wpc
In ultra linear mode it's 80 wpc
And if I swap out the el34's for kt170's it will break the hundred wpc threshold.

Right now I'm using my Carver M1.0t....

200 into 8

400 into 4

With a damping factor of 8 for that perfectly muddy bass that only Bob Carver can give.... (Sorry, I couldn't resist as I hate everything that schlocky used car salesman had anything to do with)

Simaudio 250i V2 50/100wpc @8/4ohm. Sony TA-F6B 100wpc @ 8ohm.

How does the Simaudio 250i compare with the Sony driving good speakers. It usually takes good speakers to distinguish between an ordinary amp, and higher end units like Simaudio.

The 250i looks like a good amp. 50 wpc @8 ohms doubling to 100 wpc @4 ohms ought to be enough to drive most speakers to very satifying SPL's.

Brother. When you're right, you're right. I put my Soundcraftsmen Pro-Reference Two back in my system and viola! Better bass and everything else.
