At around 1,000 w.p.c. or more........what are some amp choices for home use without bridging small amps or going to pro gear?

What Ω loading are you running?
What is your budget?
Amps this powerful which are purely domestic and convection cooled are not going to be cheap......

Holy cow! I'll check for a mushroom cloud in the news... the only ones I can think of from the top of my head is either Crown or Bryston... I think they can push a grand in wattage.

I am wondering what all the power is needed for, or whether it is purely a hypothetical question....
The Crown Macro-tech 5002VZ I run on my subs which is a pro amp, is 1300watts per channel into 8Ω......and that is a serious amp, it will do 2500 into 2Ω and 3000 into 1Ω.....
you can pick a nice one up for about $1300....better to spend a bit more and get a mint one because they are prone to have a few niggly problems if they haven't been looked after.....
However to get something like a McIntosh (pair of monoblocks) is going to be at least 10X the price......

seriously the gov. has already looked into claims of wattage 'bragging' to sell max output. especially mobile amps. and subs. Class D?.. lot of bad claims there and over heating in warm states, too.
You can only push speaker coils so far at 4-2ohms.. the coils get real hot as well as the amp.
Sure would like to try out a guitar amp with a loaded class d and see what happens..

Another one to consider is the Emotiva XPR-1.
Power Output is 1000 watts into 8 ohms, or 1750 watts into 4 ohms. Don't know who in their right mind would want so much power.
Price is $1699. With 20% off price would be $1359.20. You would be saving $339.80 by joining the E-Club

Why are you so against pro amps? That's what they are designed for. No consumer amp is really going to be designed for 1000+WPC, even if they can technically put out that much power.
Anyway some high power home amps (not sure if they meet your specs)

I always get a kick out of mfg that list current specs like that (no reference to the test method). No way that's at any typical speaker impedance. 150A, momentarily, into a dead short, maybe.
Just for a few examples...
150A into 8 ohms would be 180kW.
150A into 4 ohms would be 90kW.
150A into 2 ohms would be 45kW.
Even if the impedance was 0.5 ohms that would still represent ~11kW.
All that from an amp rated 600W @ 8 ohms....I have a bridge for sale. Any interest?

Umm, well they're cheap comparatively speaking on the used market but a new mid or top tier pro amp isn't inexpensive. You are, however, likely to get BIG power with that price tag.

Wow thanks for all the replies. I want to throw more power to some CV Xls-215s, not necessarily 1,000 watts but some headroom would be good. I like it loud sometimes what can I say! I was looking at pro gear, but didn't know if. If I could use my g9000 as a pre amp (xlr to RCA)

After a search I found a few running the cv-900 amp. (which some claim CV is lying about their amps output.)
Note that your speakers are 500w peak. meaning a large wattage spike.. probably more like around 250w program and 120w continuous and more like 6 ohms and more like 92 db.
Your amp would be fine with most of us.. but could look for something around 200-225w rms.

Of course you can, I was running a Crown Macro-tech 5002VZ with my G9000 when I had Sansuis.......
Absolutely no problem at all, if you want a powerful amp, then I suggest looking at "pro" amps....
The performance for dollar is usually better, but be sure you check out the Fan noise though....

The Crown XTI series is a serious contender. The fans almost never come on, even when the house sounds like it's going to fail structurally...but that's rare for me. In normal circumstances, the fans NEVER come on. Check out the XTI4002:

Of course, if you need more, there is always the fearsome 6002, which puts out between 1.2 KW to 3KW per channel stereo, or 4.2KW to 6KW bridged, depending on impedance!!
