Compared to the people in that article, and many of the people on this site, I'm more interested in the music and the challenge of reproducing music. Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing the people who like to collect, restore, and compare equipment. I've done (and continue to do) restoration with the goal of having my circa-1975 system all up and running again. I also have a modern system, but only the GoldenEar Triton 2+ speakers are high(ish) end, the electronics are what most people would call mid-fi. (Why I chose expensive speakers and mid-priced electronics is a topic for another thread.) AudioKarma's diverse users are a real resource, you can find experts on almost any piece of equipment, people with strong technical knowledge, people who make recordings, etc. And most of the time, you don't get flamed for asking a question or having a different opinion.
