I have found all of the Jbl’s I have been inside of didn’t have the Xover’s covered.
I’m not going to say that it wouldn’t be an improvement.
I have covered a few only as a personal preference.

I noticed that a small piece of fiberglass changes the bass, so I try to know how it is in the original. I modified the crossover for passive or active bi-amplification but I don't have the 5235 ....

The crossovers in my 4430s were not covered.

When I got them, one had a "dead" woofer, but it was just a bad connection at the crossover.

I have restored a pair of 4430 that did not have part of the fiberglass ...
x over to be done completely ... I finished the job but I had doubts about the quantity of fiberglass. I'm happy they play very well with 2 crown dc 300 in passive bi-amplification. (for now) ... thanks for the information!

De careful with the original DC 300. If you will look at Crown DC 300 A models manual when they talk about the 300 the engineers had a saying. 300 watts and a cloud of smoke. MY 300 A's use to quit every 8 to 10 years and had to have all new small caps and driver transistors. After the second time I went back to Mcintosh. Even though I never had to pay Crown a dime. This when the Church owned Crown..

the dc 300 crown delivers 150 - 170 watts per channel on 8 ohms, its advantage is to give the braked bass, useful with a 15 '' jbl. here in Italy they are highly sought after

Here are some photos of when I removed mine from the original install. I didn't measure any of the fiberglass but maybe you can see something from the (upside down) photos? (the big bolts you see in the back was part of the soffit mount).

hi, thanks for these photos, the fiberglass seems to have fallen, should there be more order inside the box, does it seem that a part is going to cover the crossover? and that the area of the trumpet is separate from that of the woofer, this is new to me ... do you have photos of the upper part?

Yes, the insulation is pulled down in the photo to find the mounting bolts. All that fiberglass insulation that is pulled down was covering up the crossover. Sorry that I don't have photos of the upper part but from this photo you can see that basically every surface is covered with insulation. Hope this helps.

I have one photo that sort of shows about a one-foot square of fiberglass behind the horn, on my 4435s. I think maybe is also a smaller piece crushed under the horn driver, inside the saddle piece, but I forget.

hi, looking in the forum I knew that the fiberglass in the 4430 is spent 1 inc., that goes on all the walls, that the crossover is discovered and that there is a piece behind the driver. is this all right?

If I understand your question, that sounds correct: As best as I can recall, the walls, top, bottom and back are covered, the crossover is not covered (there is a square hole in the fiberglass around it), there is a piece of fiberglass behind the horn driver, and there is no fiberglass on the back of the baffle.

No, not inside the horn/driver connection. Behind the driver - on its backside
