You have some nice speakers -- a rare gem with that bookshelf -- some good engineering went into them

Those aer gorgeous! Loved the way they look from the first time I saw a pic of them. Curious why these are so much more expensive than their larger brothers, the 580's?

I believe they are less expensive (MSRP), but you might be thinking of the insane recent sale prices of the 580s and 590s.

I looked up the 530's on fleaybay, was curious what they were selling for, and the 580's were several hundred cheaper, though a larger speaker with dual woofers and same design but taller.

OK, but that might be because the 580s (and 590s) are super-heavily discounted right now. I believe the actual MSRPs were higher for the bigger models.

I have the 580s also. A very short review of the 530s will require a colorful metaphor (reader beware). That review is short and sweet. Here it is......"F_CKING AWESOME"!
Numerous times (in front of the bride) I had to wipe away some wet matter from my eyes. Perhaps the largest sound stage I have ever heard from any speaker. Why did Gerbil stop making these speakers? Are you guys nuts? Makes my old L100s sound like.......well., not good. And, who figured out how to make a 5.25" woofer go down to 45 hz? I could hear the bass notes easily when I was taken a wiz............again, WOW!!!!!!!

Those look great, Wayner! Like MarZutra, this is the first time I've seen those. Are they current production?

You should do a video and post it in GD70's thread. Would love to get some sense of their sound.

They are out of production!! So you will have to go hunting for them (as I did) in many venues.

When the toilet water is vibrating from the tunes, you know the speakers are a crankin!

The sound is the sound of horns. Ya' know that reed sound from a saxophone, or the oscillation from a horned instrument. Its the :missing" part of the music that other speakers don't produce. Perhaps its from the horn, perhaps the symbiotic driver (combo, I'm sure) and the surprising bass impact from this small 5.25" bass driver that makes one wonder how its possible.

Listened to 2.25 LPs last night. Fleetfoxes-Crack up, Beck-Colors, and side one of Dead Can Dance - Into the Labyrinth (MOFI). All sounded unlike I had ever heard them before. Today, I will attempt to wear out the Technics SL1210MK5.
