JBL's

I guess I am a flipper....... to a point. I think we all are. I buy and sell the stuff I don't want so that I am able to buy and keep the stuff I DO want. And I am pretty sure that no one here wouldn't do the same thing. But, I am not just a flipper. I have a lot of quality pieces here, that I am quite proud of. And I am able to buy and keep them because I do flip a few things here and there. I am retired and living on a pension. There's no way I could buy my stuff and pay full retail/ebay prices if I didn’t flip a few things here and there. And if I don't flip it, someone else will. I am not going to walk away from a good deal because I might be labeled a flipper. Everyone wants to better themselves, whether it be audio, automotive, or houses. You begin life in a starter house, and work your way up to your dream house. Audio is no different.
Sorry if I'm a bit touchy here. I don't make my living flipping anything. I never have. Audio is just a hobby that I am trying to improve on. And on top of that, I get to try out tons of audio gear every year. That's part of the fun.

Dobyman - you don't need to justify selling gear you scored on. Just noticed your signature - nice mancave system!

Thanks slowpat. I got most of that stuff for a song too. The only thing I paid full price for was the TD 124. I just wanted everyone to know that I am a collector/audiophile, and that flipping isn't my way of life. It just gets me more of the stuff I want to keep. :thmbsp:

I haven't seen them in oak, and I'm not an oak fan, but those are awesome! A wealthy JBL nut will pay big bucks for those. The finish is "engineered" so it's half real and half plastic, very cool.

Really depends on the market - I have sold 2 pairs of the more desirable American Walnut L100T with the T3
crossover network upgrade over a 4 year window. It can be like pulling teeth sometimes to find a buyer.
Plus folks are not real spendy right now with the Holidays on the way.
But you are in no rush - post them every other week in the local CL and see what happens ...

I gave up on trying the flipper thing here in DC when everyone got into it,
thinking they'd triple their money on every buy, and fools would offer
me $150 for a clean pair of speakers like yours.

My "flipper" comment mostly refers to those who buy and sell without ever taking the time to appreciate what they have. I'd find it hard to have bought the L100Ts and not have taken time to compare them with the other dozen-or-so JBLs I own.

And I'm not completely immune to a good flip myself. I fell into a pair of JBL 18-inch theater subs and traded them for a Crown Studio Reference-II amp without thinking twice. No money involved except the original sub purchase and a friend got the subs and traded the amp, so it really wasn't a flip for cash.

It's your life but taking time to smell the roses may mean taking time to listen to the JBLs . . . with a proper amp! :thmbsp:

Same here. Most of my stuff is walnut colored , so these just don't go. If I didn't have to see them, they sound great GREAT!

I have done "decent" flipping things, but nothing to write home about. But, since I don't depend on flipping to eat, if I make anything at all, I consider it a good day. If I had to live on it, that's another thing. I can wait til the price is right. Meanwhile, I get to put these into rotation, and actually enjoy them! :thmbsp:
