King Crimson

You haven't really heard the band until you partake in the anniversary editions remixed and mastered by Steven Wilson that include both stereo and 5.1. There's also some choice "outtakes" included on the digital versions ... really like the instrumental version of Fallen Angel.

To me, that's the material that made this "8 headed beast" tour so powerful. "Pictures of the City" was great! Hearing that alone was worth the price of admission for me. As were the rest of the compositions played. And hearing "Heroes" was also great.
They did not play Heroes during the 2 DC shows in Oct 2017.
I do have most of the 2 disc Steve Wilson remasters from DGM ...

Those remasters were enough to revitalize KC ... Another interesting Crimson link to Porcupine Tree is that Gavin Harrison did the drumwork for KC reborn when touring. He's since moved on to Pineapple Thief, another killer prog band worthy of your attention. They met while (you guessed it) PT was touring with PT ... ;-}

(For folk not familiar with Harrison, he went several years running as top drummer in Europe, and played with a lot of bands ... not that he actually needs one.

Right - The Crimson band we saw had the triple drummers - Mastelotto, Harrison, and Stacey

Not like they were hiding either ... unusual to have drummers front and center, but ... it's an unusual band, right?

BTW ... anybody recognize this dude?

Prominently featured on the Elements tours (check out the drums), but no info on what (or who?) he represents. Would have thought the pocket logo would have provided a clue, but it's just another eye ...

That's high praise for Steve Wilson who has a lot of respect on THIS forum for a lot of his re-mastering efforts.

I've the 40th anniv. remaster of Discipline with umpteen different choices of formats and love it. There's a sensitivity to the mastering under the watchful eye of Mr. Fripp.

Currently listening to Exposure, any artist that can make Daryl Hall cool in the late 70's has my vote. This is absolutely disconcerting in places and soothing in others.

One of the best album covers from that era: (King Crimson-"The Court of The Crimson King"
