Yup. A box of mail-ordered LPs arrived here yesterday, and the first to make it onto the turntable was Ten New Songs.

Many focus on his early work, but Alexandra Leaving from that 2001 album is as good a song as any he's ever written- heartbreakingly beautiful.

Which is my favorite song on the "Ten New Songs" album. Alexandra Leaving and Bird On A Wire (the live version is far superior) are my 2 favorites.

Been a fan since 1970 and my eldest son is driving the UK and European tour bus at the moment and hope to get his "access all areas" pass for my collection!

Love both his music and his writing.

Just bought a copy of his book "Beautiful Losers" for a friend, along with a copy of Charles Bukowski's "Post Office", as he retires from the post office in 75 days....

LC is an excellent songwriter to be sure, and his singing voice complements his musical style very ably, I think. He's an okay guitarist, too. I like all periods of LC - early, middle and contemporary.

I would say more a lover of him writing than singing here.... He has wrote some great songs.

Try Anjani's Blue Alert.
Cohen Lyrics, Beautiful Voice
I prefer it over Jennifer Warns Famous Blue Raincoat

My favorite version of his Hallelujah is Jeff Buckleys

Anyone here a Leonard Cohen fan?
...Big time.
It's hard to pick favorites.

Ten New Songs is an amazing album. Obviously inspired by his 10 years living at Mt. Baldy Zen Center. If you are at all familiar with Buddhism, you'll find that album is truly written though the lens of Buddhist teachings
Here is an interviews with LC from Shambala Sun magazine around the time Dear Heather was released:

As for his older stuff, I think one of the most overlooked albums (in general) is Recent Songs. If you guys don't have this one, you must get in the car now and go buy it.

But I'd have to say my favorite (if I could only keep one) would be Songs of Love and Hate

Big fan here too!

I became a fan after seeing him on Austin City Limits many moons ago.

I will agree...Ten New Songs is a great album.

I know most people like Buckley's version of Hallelujah, but I prefer K.D. Lang's.
