Let’s see those table lamps - vintage or modern

LED bulbs are such a fun, new element to add to vintage lamps. They’re available in every color of the rainbow, cheap, put off literally no heat - and run on only 1 or 2 watts each. For the same electrical consumption of a historical 75 watt bulb, you can now run around 40 individual lamps for the same energy footprint! Collecting crazy lamps and displaying/using them is a new economical “hobby/thing” (but don’t tell anyone)!

Cool lamp, and such a great piece of art to accentuate it! Meant to be, and keep together in a new generation! Mid-century is SO cool!

Yep, the bottom lamp is a night light size and so cheap run we just leave the bottom lamp on all the time. This lamp is unusual in that the bottom lamp has a separate switch on the base.....all the others I have seen just use the upper switch. The upper lamp socket is fairly tired and is a three position dimmable type. When I get time I will replace the original base with a new one with just on/off.

Another thing I like is the subtle flair of the drum shade to the bottom.

You’ve got a fun one! I’ve collected a bunch of the “70’s glass globe” table lamps over the years (gold, green, and occasional red or blue glass), and have converted them to hanging swag lamps. Adding a LED bulb to these (with a diffuser), really brings these to life. While once plentiful and cheap, they’ve really become rarer in the wild, and now command a much higher price - like everything else I guess. Unlike many things, the glass luminescence stays as perfect as the day they were built, once cleaned - and the light that they cast, with the waves formed in the glass at manufacture, really light up a room with great effect. Perfect with vintage hifi.

Here are my Lights for my listening room. Combined with two sconce lights behind seating position and the glow from my components it makes the room feel very mellow during night listening. I bought the blue lamp for 5 dollars from an antique store in the middle of nowhere. A rewire and new shade and its good as new. The rain lamp however was much harder to recondition. I went over to my parents home and they had it sitting outside in there backyard next to the shed. It belonged to my grandmother and she passed a few years ago when I lived in another state and it had sat there since. I cleaned the leaves out of it, replaced the motor and cleaned the whole thing up.

My grandmother had one of those lamps back in the day. I remember it collected every bit of dust from the air and the whole thing turned into sticky mess!
