Let's talk about Artificial Intelligence. Scared yet?

I was able to ask if it thought it was ethical to use low wage workers to clean up racist illegal data and it doesn't think it is ethical and the workers should be fairly compensated and well trained to deal with the content they are being exposed to. Maybe AI more ethical than the bean counters making the decision to exploit poverty.
I also asked it how AI could help with poverty. Job training and advancement in healthcare, predictive maintenance and agriculture are ways in which it can help.

It is important to note that these benefits will only be realized if AI is developed and deployed responsibly, with a focus on addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by people living in poverty.

I also asked it do write a short song on the benefits of AI

Verse 1: AI's here to help us all Making life much easier From self-driving cars to chatbots It's changing the game for sure

Chorus: AI, oh AI Making life more efficient AI, oh AI The future's looking bright

Verse 2: Helping doctors diagnose Making factories more productive It's all thanks to AI Our world is becoming smarter

Chorus: AI, oh AI Making life more efficient AI, oh AI The future's looking bright

Bridge: It's not just about convenience AI's making a difference In so many ways Let's embrace the change

Chorus: AI, oh AI Making life more efficient AI, oh AI The future's looking bright

Outro: AI's here to stay Let's work together To make the most of it For a better tomorrow.

I am going to need more than Jordan Peterson saying something works to believe it.

As someone who both admires and cringes at JP, I was worried about "the messenger".
Personally, I find some of his comments amazing and on point. Others, I just shake my head. Take the good from the bad, I suppose.

Let's see.........technology is destroying the planet and facilitating the extinction of homo sapiens. Is MORE technology going to be better for us or worse? Gee, that's a tough one to answer.

Just a little more poison, and you're cured!

Exactly what I'd expect to hear sung from the Mongolian mouth of some peasant holding "The Little Red Book".:bowdown::bowdown::rflmao:

Science for the most part is a good thing, and adds to our lives in an meaningful way.

However, as some have shared, there can be a "dark side" to advancing science. Some consequential changes are obvious...others, not so, as it takes a long time to experience the affects.

Science itself has no innate bad/good within this field of study, but humans; being humans tend to utilize this knowledge base for their own selfish gains. This is the part of the whole science-life equation that bothers me.

Whether a machine can ever be constructed wherein it can be aware of itself, and be void of human intentions is one thing...however, I think this is really the "elephant in the room" worry. Least it is for me! We continue to create more efficient/effective ways in the killing of our own species as it is. Therein lies my worry of "human intentions" and the loss of control.

FWIW

From ChatGPt
Additionally, it is important to have human oversight and validation of the AI system's results to ensure the decisions made by the AI align with the ethical and moral principles of the society.

In summary, preventing problems when using AI is a multi-faceted process that involves a combination of technical, ethical, and policy-based approaches. By being proactive and addressing potential problems before they occur, it is possible to ensure that AI is developed and used in a responsible and ethical manner.

I asked if AI could lie
An AI system can produce false or misleading information, but it does not have the intention to deceive like a human would when they lie. An AI system is only able to produce the information it has been programmed to produce based on the data it has been trained on. However, it's important to note that AI can be used to spread misinformation or to impersonate a human. In such cases, it can be difficult to distinguish between true and false information, and this can be a major problem for society. Therefore, it's important for the creators and operators of AI systems to be transparent about how the systems work, and to take steps to mitigate the spread of misinformation.

I asked AI this question
It said there are some researchers who are working on AI that can learn any task a human can independent of data input. This technology is in the very early stages of development.
This is the short answer. This Bot has the gift of gab. :) very thorough answers

The case for AI can not possibly be a benefit to humanity. Humans already know everything they could need to know about improving the lives of all humans. Feed them, clothe them, give them shelter and health care, and promote peace. Are we doing any of that? Of course not. That's not how the world works. So now AI comes along and studies problems and gives "honest answers." When AI says, "Here's how you feed the world....", who exactly is going to follow those orders? Absolutely no one. But when AI says, "You don't need 10,000 call center employees; I can do it all for you with a few servers." You bet that order will be followed immediately.
It's nothing but more automation - which puts more people on the dole and on the edge of existence.

Everyone is marveling that AI can paint pictures, write songs, write news articles, draw, and sing. Well, those are things previously done by humans, aren't they? They're not writing news articles because they are better journalists. They are writing them so that no one has to pay human writers. Or no one has to pay graphic artists, photographers, or sign painters, or singers. Trivial tasks like designing suburban houses, generic PCs, and hundreds of other consumer goods put more people out of work. What's the perceived benefit of that?

AI is a greed machine. It is going to be owned by the world's giga-corporations as the ultimate tool of extracting value from the available resources - human, animal and mineral. The pretense of AI solving "problems" is purely asinine. Everyone knows HOW to solve the problems. There is simply no WILL to do it. I doubt if AI is going to give people a new conscience.

It's a tool that can be utilized in beneficial and harmful ways. I still have some hope. I just asked it what to do about job displacement because of AI. Which is going to happen so hopefully regulations will be in place prior to it becoming a major issue. I had to ask it twice because the system is bogged down and the answer was slightly different the second time which I find interesting

Give 10 specific examples of regulations that can be enacted to help humans whose job has been replaced by AI
  1. Government-funded retraining programs for workers whose jobs have been displaced by AI.
  2. Tax incentives for companies that invest in retraining and upskilling their employees.
  3. A universal basic income to provide a safety net for workers whose jobs have been replaced by AI.
  4. Increased funding for education and vocational training programs.
  5. Government-funded job placement programs for displaced workers.
  6. Regulations requiring companies to give preference to displaced workers when filling new job openings.
  7. Regulations requiring companies to provide severance pay and other benefits to workers whose jobs have been replaced by AI.
  8. Regulations requiring companies to disclose the use of AI in their operations and the potential impact on workers.
  9. Increased labor protections and benefits for gig workers and other non-traditional employees.
  10. A national AI strategy that includes a focus on addressing the impacts of AI on workers and communities.

The one missing from the first list that I really liked was reducing the work week to 4 days.

THIS.

But, again playing devil's advocate to your most thorough postings on this topic, CG, we also pinned these hopes to the Gutenberg press, Marconi's radio, Bell's telephone, and Al Gore's Internet (laugh here, everyone, we could use it!).

A topic I find of great interest is the data showing AI to occasionally show what humans consider "racist" talk, dogma, etc.

Could it be that patterns of behavior by humans, represented in data such as the FBI website on crime, demographics, etc, to AI are at odds with the social narrative and the society we hope to one day see?

JUST FOOD FOR DISCUSSION, nothing more.

@Quadman2 got any thoughts on this, sir?

Again...it's the "independence" that worries me in the long run.

China should be sufficient cautionary for following that path, one hopes.
It's already widely in use in the cities over there. Facial recognition from the millions of cameras pointed up and down every street, hallway, store etc tracks everyone. Once CBDC currencies become the norm, AI will track and control your money, have complete control over the kill switch in your car, and put limits on when where what you are allowed to be, with justification by everything from climate score, to social credit, health score, you name it. 15 minute "smart cities" are just that. When AI sees that you have exceeded your travel allowance for the week your credit cards, or whatever will stop functioning outside of your 15 minute circle. Later, as AI learns, it will be able to track your emotional expressions, so if you are hearing something that you don't like it will be able to tell (pre-crime). 5G and 6G will be built to handle the massive amounts of data transfer that will be required for that level of surveillance. No, it isn't for loading games faster.

For those of us like myself, living way away from smart grids, they will eventually move us to smart cities. Lots of excuses, but the one I keep hearing is how mankind must be kept away from wild and even domestic animals as viruses will jump from animal to human. Also we will be told (by AI) that we must return as much of nature to its wild pristine state as possible. For me, I wake up every day grateful that I at least got in on the tail end of what it meant to be a free human being. The future is bleak for the younger people. :(

Turing said that the first ultra-intelligent machine will also be man's last invention.

And yes, current gen computers may not qualify as AI, but they're already designing their own successors, taking hours to code and design what would take us primitive biological entities months or years. What with current advances in quantum computing, I'd expect our days as the alpha dogs are numbered.

(sleep tight, yall)

Man, this isn't a popular notion, but I don't think you're wrong. What someone recently said to me was that it seems we're headed back into a Feudalist state. That had me thinking for some time.
