The only thing I ever had stolen was a headshell and cartridge from my Technics SL-1500 when I stepped out of my apartment for a few minutes, leaving the door unlocked.

I had my McIntosh MA6600 stolen. It was a sad day.

1978-ish, lost my car stereo one day at high school. Alpine stereo, can't remember what the amp was, and a pair of AFS Kricket speakers I had temptingly placed in speaker boxes on my back seat.
1981, another car stereo, this time at LSU. Don't remember anything but the speakers were "big brutes". Also in speaker boxes on my back seat. Same VW beetle. I'm an idiot.
Jump forward to 1987 or so, house in S Minneoplis broken into, they stole my great big bitchin' Panasonic color teevee and a sony stereo. Cleaned me out of all my CD's. Insurance gave me hard time over the CD's but I had saved every box they came in when purchased, lol !
That's it for stolen electronics. I got jacked for my Toyota one night in New Orleans, that was scary.

All stolen from my apartment while I was at work. Pretty sure I know who did it but had no proof. I had $1230 invested but appraisal for the Sheriff 's report came out to over $3500. Of course I had no renter's insurance.

Not audio equipment but a box of valuable records and CDs. When I moved to the Czech Republic in 1998 the USPS had an international book rate. I shipped 3 sacks of boxed up stuff and all three made it across without problems. I then shipped 3 more without problems. The last 2 had my most valuable records and CDs. Only one made it. The one with the records didn't. :tears:

I've never had anything stolen from me before. Though about 15 years ago my little brother got his bike stolen because he left it out on the street overnight.
The configuration of my house is such that anyone who tried to take my audio gear would be in a position of having to carry multiple heavy components down 4 flights of stairs.

cuz misery loves company and it's nice to know you're not alone.
My college house was broken into when i was home for the summer. luckily i took my gear home with me, but my buddy who was spending the summer at school had his really nice for a college kid mid 90s sony component rig stolen: receiver, tape deck, cdp, speakers, the cabinet it came in...we were a bit of a party house, lots of shady characters coming and going who knew what he had. hadda be something of an inside job.
when i was living in boston i had a nice car stereo boosted: kenwood cdp, alpine speakers, nice amp and subwoofer (forget the manufacturer on those but it was good stuff). insurance covered me, i went with a nicer deck and speakers, no amp/woofer. i understandably wanted to be a little lower-key.

The list is long, the Student Ghetto was unkind to my audio enjoyment but apparently made some very happy.
First one got the whole system in my room and the system in the living room of the house a bunch of us rented.

Yes, you should post the serial numbers because we all know that the purchase of stolen merchandise is a crime.
Unfortunately I did not have the idea at the time to keep a record of serial numbers, nowadays I do.
As for serial numbers, my dad was a big clay target shooter way back when. He made a habit of recording the S/N of all of the guns he had and bought. Well, sometime in the early '70s someone stole a Parker single barrel trap gun from him. Thirty five years later he saw the same model listed for sale in California with the S/N in the ad. Sure enough, it was the same gun! The dealer returned it to him after confirming the theft report. It could happen!

Car audio: Alpine head unit from my VW Jetta (window shattered) in guarded NJ State Employee parking lot, Trenton, NJ. (And my car registration sticker cut out of my license plate w/sheet metal cutters. The Alpine was more valuable to me, of course. Moral of story is: don't visit Trenton, N.J.)
