local weed growing discussions

One I want to try is Willy Nelson. It has a long flowering time. don’t think it will work outside where I live. Would have to grow it inside. At one time we grew a maui strain, it got frosted out before it matured. I would love to have the Hawaii climate to work with :) nice to hear Hawaii getting on board.
Willie has a home here on Maui and often visits.
I partied with his son, Lukas and Patrick Simmons Jr. at my neighbor's.

Nice :) Sorry Willie I spelled your name wrong, smoke another one for punishment, well I only vap inside, now's a good time.

What were you smoking? I hope it was Willie's strain
Different, no afgan Indica, 1.5m high and 10-11 weeks of flowering, 1/2 Lb ? a bunch of thai sticks?

I smoked thai sticks for a better part of my late teens into my mid 20s . 18 sticks for a 50.00 Those were the days , had some close friends that had access to some of the best herb. Maui , Thai sticks , some A gold . Making roach bombs as big as a hard ball . Then cruising when we lite it up , surprise we could still see the road with all the smoke in the car while driving . hahaha . Stupid forking kids !

Nothing wrong with some harmless fun. I am surprised you remember the price of the Thai sticks, I don’t but only had them a few times. At one time I was getting compressed Jamaican lambs breathe it was good smoke for the day.

We just ordered the boogie brew and 45k gal filter.
No special treatment is going into this year's grow.

Just going to start them and let the light do the work and not worry about perfect temps, vdp and humidity..

Any suggestions on a lamp setup to get my seeds going . Have 5 different strains to grow this year . Not a very long growing season in Michigan. Thanks in advance:)

I guess it depends on where you are in Michigan, same goes here in Ontario. Seasons over when frost hits unless you cover up or are in a greenhouse.
I have used a 19W? LED PAR spotlight over a seedling with success. Get as close as you can, a few inches away( 4~6”)so that the seedling does not stretch for the light. You’ll know if it’s done right if the serrated leaves come out close to the two initial leaves. I take off the diffusers which block a lot of light but be careful since you are now exposed to line voltage.

I'm basing my opinion from the greater grand rapids area. Grow them in pots so you can bring them in if it freezes.
If you start them now you'll probably be able to harvest by late aug or mid sept.

Get a lamp with a controller you can program with your phone. Samsung lm301B ot H LEDs are very good.
My light has recipes that will take a seed from germination and adjust the light, etc until harvest..It's a 200 watt.

My plants outside get 10ft high so pots won’t work unless you want to stunt the growth and have to water daily. We’ve grown outside in big garbage pails however.
Do not grow long season varieties, get indica hybrids with ~8 week flowering times.
Seriously a lamp/fixture with phone app, and recipes, totally unnecessary. When it comes to growing pot, simple Simon rules the roost.

One of my neighbor's plants was 11 1/2 feet. It was grown in one of those big fabric pots.
A light that will reset time, etc. after power loss and being able to view real time conditions with your phone is valuable.

I know Michigan weather and even with Indica he's going to be fighting frost near harvest if he waits.

Thanks to old pics here, I remembered when I started last year's plants. They were started at the beginning and middle of April.
We're going to start some seeds in about a week or two. Just going to start them in a plastic seedling tray then move under a light.

No ugly grow box or fiddling with climate. That ruins the enjoyment of growing for me.

Off to a great start with one of three Carbon Butters sprouting after this Thursday morning planting^^^^.

That's it from me for now until there's something worth talking about.

100 degrees and 5% humidity is just a walk in the park for the plants. Should be a great grow this year.
Are Bob and I the only growers on this thread? :beatnik:

Haven't had great success this year. Tried growing earlier and only had 1 out of 6 plants survive. They were (expensive) seeds I bought online. Had them outside and the birds pulled them up.
Here's a picture of the one survivor that looks rather stunted. It's sitting alongside a couple of plants that came from hemp seeds I bought or from seeds that I pulled from buds from last year's plants (lost track of what was what).
Decided to start all over with some more hemp seeds growing in potting soil that I added vermiculite to. They are growing much better than the ones I tried to grow earlier.

Nice to see someone in this thread growing. This is the only thread I come to AK for.
Good potting soil has been the key to my grows. It allows for fast root development.

Sunshine Pro Mix #4 has been used by all my growing friends with excellent results.

Ii am going to cut my hydro system down to one maybe two plants this fall. i didn't grow anything this yr and still have lots. this way i will have lots of room to start flowers for the summer.
