Magnepan MGII Repair/Restore, Glue, Glue and more Glue

I hate to chime in this late in the game but from the TDS for DAP,

"This contact cement should not be used for structural applications, or for bonding copper, copper
alloys, metal alloys, or polystyrene foams"

3M Super 77 often used is not certified for copper either, but is okay for steel and aluminum.

I am afraid a lot of these Magnepan restorations are going to have serious problems down the road due to adhesive
choices.
 
That may be true but the wire is coated and can’t be soldered without scraping the insulation/coating off the wire. Hopefully this coating will not fail with the DAP contact cement. Many have done this repair over the past few decades, haven’t read anything about a repair failing, yet. The only part of the voice coil wires not coated is where they are soldered to the terminal strip at the crossover.
