Marantz 3200 Relay?

Has anyone replaced the 48V relay in the Marantz 3200, if so what did you use.

I recapped my 3200 a while back and still need to replace the relay as well. I had it open a few days ago to clean the selector switch. It reminded me I need to find a relay too.

I am looking to do a rebuild on mine and am in the planning stages, also going to add some ceramics (C0G/NPO) "ala" Leestereo. I will be listening after the rebuild, then add the ceramics and then do a re-listen.

Hey Pat;

it's clearly been awhile since you restored the 3200/140. I was hoping you did end up finding a replacement relay for the MAT4B 810R relay in the 3200. I think I found the suitable replacement in an Omron MY4Z DC48 or MY4ZN DC48. However, I wanted to see if you or anyone else had tried to use one of these as a replacement.

No I never did. Mine had the real nice gold contacts, so I disassembled the relay and gave it a gentle cleaning.

I ended up getting one from a shop via Ebay... yeah I know... anyway, I think that I bought two. I will try to dig the other one up and get some pics up. I was not able to back track online to determine a match for it.

I have to caveat this with the fact that I am still working on my 3200. I went in via the shotgun engagement and replaced a bunch of transistors hoping to kill off a low level buzzing sound. I must have screwed something up because once it warms up, it starts producing popping sounds. I still need to get back at it again.

@bluefan did you end up replacing the tantalum caps (the little blue caps)? Those things are known to crap out.

Just an update on this, I ended up ordering the relay mentioned in my earlier post (Omron MY4ZN DC48). As it turns out, the terminals were the plug pin type, wider with a hole for wiring.

I ended up using my Dremel to grind them down a bit, not my best work by any stretch of the imagination.

I did some more research and I believe the correct replacement is the following part number. Mouser and Digikey don't stock them, but they can get them with the lead time in mind:

Omron MY4Z-02-DC48

The connector type is listed as a "PC" connector, so it should be the correct pin form factor from the data sheets I looked into.

I replaced the relay in my 3200 with this relay from Mouser ,part# 653-MY4-02-DC48.
It is only 5amp ,the original was 10 amp . But 5amp is more than you need for a small pre amp. 10 amp was serious overkill.To quote "Catrafter"!
The relay is direct fit and very reasonably priced.
