I want to see how Jordan Walker does. He currently has 22 homers and leads the league in RBIs at 74.

I'm afraid that I don't know who that is.
I'm pretty sure that my fandom of baseball is far from typical. I'm not really a baseball fan and much more a Yankee fan. I never was into baseball as a kid or much of my life, really. I kinda warmed up to baseball after channel surfing and seeing a game on my new LCD TV. It was like looking out of a window in my living room and I started watching a little more and watching that Yankees since I had to "pick" a NY team. So I only watch the Yankees and no other teams or games. The only other stick-n-ball sport I watch is the NFL and I've been watching football since I was a little kid with my dad. I'll watch any Monday or Thursday night game and RedZone all day Sunday.
Jordan Walker is the right fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals. A young player in his breakout year named to the All-Star team for the 1st time. He's a big dude with a lot of pop.
Unfortunately it looks like I won't get to see the Home Run Derby this year since MLB decided for the 1st time in history to only show it on Netflix and not any of the traditional broadcast networks. I already pay enough for cable TV and MLB Network so I think I will pass on it this year.

Take a look at this finish against Kyle Schwarber! It has to be the greatest final round of all-time! Jordan was down to his final ball and had to hit 6 homers in a row to stay alive.

Jordan had a very disappointing season last year but Oliver Marmol and the Cards stood by him and kept him for this season. What a great decision that was! He's the real-deal.

Ben Rice had the fewest home runs of all the contestants. Willson Contreras looked real impressive as he made it to the semi-finals where he lost to Kyle Schwarber. Contreras was traded to Boston at the end of last season by the Cardinals as part of their "superstar purge" for the so-called 2026 rebuilding season.
Walker is the first HR Derby-winning All-Star born after January 2002.

He beat all the old guys. That HR Derby takes a lot out of you. While Bryce Harper is still good, he isn't as good as he used to be back when he won the Derby. If you remember, Bryce dominated it when he won. He was a young man back then.
You can tell Kyle Schwarber came prepared and really wanted to win and he almost did but Jordan Walker really worked hard in preparation. The last few games before the break they showed him practicing for the Derby and he was really crushing them out of the park at Busch.
That's why before they had the Derby I said I wanted to see how good he would actually do because it looked like he was really taking it seriously and putting in the hours of practice. It paid off for him. He's a million dollars richer for it.

He lacked discipline at the plate and was a sucker for the curve ball and slider. All the opposing pitchers knew his weaknesses too and exploited them. The Cardinals decided to give him another chance this year and he worked hard but had a lackluster Spring Training. It made Oliver Marmol and the Cards upper management wonder if they had made a mistake but as soon as opening day hit, Jordan exploded and has been on a tear ever since. He's no longer striking out swinging at the sucker pitches. Pitchers are now afraid of him and walk him a lot.

Let's see how everyone does in the dog days of August. The make-or-break-it stretch of the season.
The Cards had 4 really-important series' right before the break. They won three of them (Braves on the road, Cubs on the road, and Braves again at home) but got their butts kicked in a big 5 game series (1-4) at Busch with the Brewers. They'll have to hang in there but if the season were to end today, they'd be a wild card which is a lot more than anyone expected from them this season.
It was like 5 minutes of play and 15 minutes of commercials. I tuned out after the first few innings.

I have a black belt in channel-surfing and I was using all my skills last night! We watched the first couple of innings but mostly monitored the game after that. There were also a few extra things mixed in between a few innings but we didn't see any of it.
I started watching the All-Star game and the Spain vs. France World Cup match on the DVR at the same time. I turned off the AS Game and went to the soccer match, only.
Gonna DVR the England vs Argentina match today.

Yeah they could use at least one more solid starter. Their middle relief bullpen is overworked and ends-up blowing a lot of leads in the 6th-7th innings. They have a good closer Riley O'Brien who was an all-star this year and has 24 saves so far.Good young team. I think the key is their pitching.
As far as the Cardinals being a young team?
They have the youngest roster in all of MLB baseball this year.
