On a sad note... I think the Cardinals might have just about sealed their fate for 2026 today when they were up 7-0 after 6 innings against the Diamondbacks and ended-up blowing the lead and losing 8-7. Totally-lame. The Cardinals starter, Andre Pallante pitched a pretty-good game until the 7th. They pulled him and the Cards went down the tubes as their middle relievers let them down again. It tied the Diamondback's biggest comeback in the history of their franchise after 6 innings.
I don't think the Cardinals management is going to spend any money before the all-star break as they are probably looking totally towards next year now. I expect Lars Nootbaar to be traded if not within the next couple weeks but almost certainly at year's end as he is their only top card they have to play as a trade.
In hindsight, if the Cards would have spent a little more money on pitching this year they could have been serious contenders but no one expected them to be as good as they turned out to be.

An amazing winning streak for sure. But didn't they drop 10 straight before this or do I have them confused with a different team?
The Red Sox are 14-6 their last 20 games, and 21-9 their last 30. I don't see a 10 game losing streak in either one of those.

It may have been another team in the AL East as I'm sure I heard that during a Yankees game.
Speaking of the Yankees...they managed to hold their own against the Dodgers although they did drop 2 of three. One game got a bit out of hand 2-8 but most of those runs came late in the game courtesy of the relief staff the other two were quite close.

Well yesterday was a continuation. Boston won #14 in a row and the Cards blew another one in a walk-off to the Angels.
The Cards were up 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th and brought in their All-Star closer Riley O'Neil who leads the league in saves and you figure "OK the game is under control" but no! He procedes to walk batters, gives up a scorching double and RBI that ties the game with one out. Then he hits a batter and they intentionally walk another to load the bases for a potential double-play and what does he do?
He beans the next batter for a walk-off win for the Angles.

Well the Red Sox just completed the sweep of the mighty Dodgers in LA. Almost inconceivable just a few months ago.
The Red Sox are now 9 games over .500 for the 1st time this year and are nipping at the heels of the Yankees for 2nd place in the AL East.
Talk about a turnaround.
The question is will Interim Manager Chad Tracy become the permanent manager of the Red Sox? He's done a heck of a job since they fired Alex Cora.
If the Red Sox don't make him the permanent manager I expect he will be managing another team next season.

It's a done deal. Today's trade deadline resulted in some good trades for the Cards. As they begin a 3 game series in the Bronx tonight, the Cardinals remain for the most part intact. They traded three good players. Two pitchers; Dustin May & JoJo Romero to the Brewers for some minor league prospects and as expected traded rising star Lars Nootbaar to the Arizona Diamondbacks for some more young talent. May & Romero were both due to be free agents next season so only the Nootbaar trade stings a bit as he had 2 more years on his contract. But the Cards are deep in the outfield and can afford to lose Noot.
They really made out good and ESPN rates the Cardinals trades as "A" which will be a great help for next year and because they are still in good shape after the trades and they are still in contention as a wildcard this season. They aren't totally out of it yet although they better start winning.

Boy the Cards and Yanks are in a slugfest tonight. St. Louis went up 6-0 and let the Yanks come back to make it 7-6 in the 7th and now in the 8th the Cards hit a 3 run shot to go back up 9-7!
Now the Cards just hit another 2 run homer in the 8th to go up 11-7!
They just said it is only the 4th time in Yankee Stadium history that there have been 9 or more homers in a game, and it ain't over yet.

We were watching the comeback and ensuing implosion last night. Schlittler had a very uncharacteristically bad start and was out by the 4th. The Yank's newest acquisition Garcia made a great start to his stay with the team by hitting a go-ahead homer.
But it was all pi##ed by the relief pitching.
