Modelers Corner

IMG_8531.jpegIMG_8532.jpegIMG_8533.jpegWell so much for no more tanks

This is my winter project. Totally functioning 3D printed British Conqueror. Tank developed to counter the Soviet IS-3 and protect the Centurions. The Germans would have approved of this. Insanely huge, incredibly advanced and unreliable and obsolete within 3 years. But a gorgeous looking massive tank. Very few parts applied yet

The Conqueror has already been running around on our club field. It is definitely a more than capable RC tank and has some great features like the fire control cupola rotates from the radio. It was a very advanced tank. The fire control tower was the first ever but the Brits had no manual recovery on it and being Brit electronics in the 50's it failed all the time.

3D is definitely the future for RC tanks. Tamiya seems to have given up and even Heng Long and Taigen/Torro so all these tanks that would not sell in enough numbers to be commercially viable can be printed from files. They probably will never approach Tamiya quality but they also cost half as much and ifyou have the files as stuff breaks they can be 3D printed

Here is one I'd like to build...

Conqueror out at the field. Massive tank but quite easy to drive. Still very much a work in progress. Waiting for bazooka skirts, communication cable spool and internal turret work to be finished to attach the very delicate turret rear basket, handles etc and then I can work on weathering etc. Finding decals for marking is going to be a challenge as nobody makes them for this tank in 1/16con mono.jpgcon3.jpgcon2.jpg
