Modelers Corner

Got lucky at the flea market today. Found these vintage models. Earliest is pre-bar code 1970 and go to 1996. Since the YB-49 is sealed thought about not opening it. That lasted about 2 minutes. I'll build it.

Oh, I'm sure I still have somewhere my tiny RC model engine COX 0.327CC - brand new, unused, just bought for the fun - exactly like this one below :

Brings back good memories!!

(Gene) Cox made the 'hottest' engines in USA. Real Screamers. Couldn't 'win' contests without one.

Used to have a Cox engine on the 'Yo-Yo' I built.

Still have 3 or 4 of my Dad's Cox engines up in the attic, along with my Dad's winning 'free-flight' and ]RC] Carl Goldberg model planes he built.

Just don't know what to do with the planes. :dunno:
A couple of them were photographed for the picture on the cover of the Carl Goldberg model boxes.

If... anyone has any idea who would just want these planes - PM me. They need a new home very soon now.

Cox also made the smallest production gas engine at the time. The tee dee .010 that were red. They eventually went out of production until Cox started making them again in black to fill some orders from Russia.

This is a brand new, never seen fuel, Cox .010 in a plastic case because the cardboard box it was in deteriorated, It is shown with a O&R .60 spark ignition gasoline engine for size comparison.

(and yes, I know the shelf could use a cleaning, but the dust adds to the "been sitting forever" look) :rflmao:

Beside Audio, I am still in Model Trains... Below, my two restored 91-years-old Ladies : Lionel 259E + 261T (upper) and Lionel 262E + 1689W (lower), both from 1934.

Hi tubelectron,

"IR battlers" means that each tank is fitted with an infrared source in the cannon, and sensor(s) that will register a "hit" from enemy tanks in the battle. They position themselves in battle positions and blast away at each other with their infrared light beams and hits are registered, the one who scores the most/best hits is declared the winner. Some go as far as "crippling" the opposing tank depending on the severity of the "hits".

It's a way of recreating full sized tank battles without doing actual damage to the models, , , , sorta like the game "laser tag" if you've ever seen of that......

I did find this UTube video that gives a look into RC tank laser battles (this video shows very basic "toy grade" tanks, but gives the idea ;))
