My Klipschorns restoration

I built tops for my Klipschorns. At this point the top cabinets pieces had been made and assembled. This is after I painted what needed to be black. Lots of edge veneer was later applied.

I built the two boards between the top and bottom cabinet too.

Both the high and mid horns are front flush mounted.

Top grill cover’s magnets are under the wood veneer and attracting magnets in their grill cloth board frames, so no grill cloth covers connectors are visible on speakers top cabinets with grills off.

I’ve replaced all the electronic components at some time.

Tops of top cabinets wood patterns match the fronts of their bass cabinets.

Like you, I did an extensive remodel/modification of my 1972 (pre-MDF) Klipschorns. They were fun to work on, and the results are sonically spectacular and aesthetically pleasing (to us). As you can see, I did 'deviate' considerably from the original "look." Also, I used no edge veneer, opting instead for 1/2" solid wood for all edges... well, except for the tops. I replaced all of the "top hat" components with TAD 2001 mid drivers on Tractrix horns, JBL 2404 tweeters, and ALK's "extreme slope" networks (120 db/octave).

Actually, it's not black, rather dark, dark brown with a hint of red. Really rich looking.

The components are GyroDec/SME Mk. IV w/Grado Master, Fisher 500C, Sonic Frontiers CD transport and Sonic Frontiers SFD-2 DAC.

How do you get your photos to show up large on your posts and not as small attached files like mine are? I upload my photos to the Upload a File button when posting and mine come up small sized attached files needed to be clicked on to become a large photo. I see most posts photos are already posted as large size directly onto the posts by others.
