My minimalist system is now seen in my avitar. I think I finally made the best combo for a small room in my home.

Kenwood KA-6100 amp, Sony Digital tuner, Dual 505-1 turntable, Denon CD Player, Sony cassette deck and AR4x loudspeakers.

In my living room, Klipsch speakers, Adcom 555II with tuner\preamp, NAD cd and reel to reel just for looks. I also have a Harman A500 in my computer room and some backup systems on the rack.

It is not a receiver, it is a Bose 1801 power amp with speaker switch and gain controls. Heavy sucker, too big for my needs but I could not pass up the bargain.

The AT-PL120 is on the 45/78 system.
There's an MCS Technics clone in the pantry somewhere...

Its funny how some of our minimalist systems would be primary systems for other folks.

Until I got booted out of my office and into a cube, I used a:

Marantz 2220B receiver
Klipsch KG 2.5 speakers
Yamaha KX-960 cassette
NAD CD player, can never remember the model number.

If I leave it on all night, I wake up with sunburn from the receiver's backlighting. It makes pretty good mood lighting, though...

I sawa big Soundesign TX receiver that glowed like that. I should have bought it. it was 100W RMS. :drool: and had to weigh at least 30LBS it had a big heatsink and transformer inside that I could see through the grille on the top not to mention those power supply capacitors.

it was only $3.00 It's gone now... I hope I see another one!:tears:

I wonder what It would have sounded like on the sony floorstanders I saw at a pawn shop.

I wonder if the neighbors will be happy? I live next to the landlord!:sigh:

I just bought this early 70s little Pioneer Integrated Amp and Tuner off eBay for $109.99 shipped. Figured I'd match them up with a small pair of bookshelf speakers and a nice CD player.

Though constantly changing, here's the current version:

Technics ST-7300 tuner
Technics SU-7700 amp
Technics SL-B2 turntable
Kyocera D-611 cassette deck
Nakamichi OMS-1A cd player
ADS L520 speakers
when I find room for it, Teac X300R R2R

It all sits on top of an old Arvin console stereo

I do about as much listening to the PC also (iPod & 34 gb of mp3's). Its got a Sound Blaster Audigy 5.1 card driving a set of 2.1 Altec Lansings that sound pretty good.

My den system. Denon DP-1200 TT, Adcom GFT-400 tuner/preamp, Pioneer RT-707 rtr, Adcom GFA 535II power amp. The speakers (Design Acoustic DA-900) are on an adjacent wall.

Nice stuff out there! This is a pic of my minimalist office setup. The receiver is a Pioneer sx 3700. The speakers on the bookshelves are Paradigm Atoms, wired up with 16 gauge. The laptop provides mp3, cds and internet attached via a mini to RCA splitter out of the headphone jack to the tape input. A Terk antenna cleans up the signal so some stations are virtually cd clear. At about .1 watt with the loudness on it's like wearing a nice big set of headphones. Loudness off also sounds great. The antenna/receiver are on a powerstrip. One button activation!
