Need Advice ASAP !

I hope you get it, I know you will have a hard time sleeping tonight :D cheers to the wife for giving it the :thmbsp:

Will be watching for the exciting conclusion :lurk:

You know - I could have gone ahead and bought it without telling my wife BUT - we've been married for just over 32 years and I figured out a long time ago that if we don't keep secrets and be upfront - it just works out better for both of us. I rarely ever spend money other than the occasional GW find usually under $20 or so -- she is a true bargin hunter when it comes to groceries, clothes, etc.. but when she wants or needs something, she always runs it by me first.

At any rate -- I do hope it's still there - if not, there's always the next time !

If you are in S. Idaho, that's junk and WAY too much to pay...

If you are anywhere else its a ripping bargain!

(A pal / biz acquaintance called me yesterday about a Dynaco ST-70 and other stuff he saw in the paper and I am trying to talk him into it. So good karma either way. )

Good luck!

Ha ha ha ~

In my books that is a "buy now and pay later" scenario as far as the boss is concerned! Just too good a deal, especially if that is a Garrard 301 grease bearing TT in there!!! Didi she look anything like this?

I'm not sure on the Garrard - might be -- I'm only hoping it's still there at 7:00 am - I'll be first in line and hopefully come home with it. IF I do, I'll post pictures later on today + be begging for help !

Crossing fingers for ya,:thmbsp:

Oh, and set your alarm clock

Thanks - I'll let you know - tried to sleep and couldn't, so here I am at 2:00 waiting for 7:00 am - glad I took a good nap yesterday - and I don't mean one of those 12 minute power naps - when I take a nap, I hit the couch and snore for a couple of hours.

HaHa!! I knew you wouldn't be sleepin when I read this earlier. Been there. Sendin the good vibe that she's there waitin for ya.

Maybe a talk with the wife might semi-clear ya for next time if a gotta jump now purchase comes up.

Good luck

Yep, you had me pegged. Funny thing is I didn't think I'd have a bit of trouble getting to sleep :boring:- well, here I am at 3:30 am -- chugging the coffee - another couple of hours and I'll get my shower and see if the vibes you sent me have worked. You know, I could have bought it yesterday and Becky wouldn't have cared in the least, however, we have always run purchases past each other if it's more than $50 or so - EXCEPT when she goes grocery shopping - heck, if we could quit eating for a couple of weeks, I could get all kinds of new toys !

The Dynaco stuff (I am betting it is a ST-70 amp and PAS2 preamp) brings back a lot of memories. I built mine from a kit and loved it untilthe day it disappeared - thiefs. May require some work but you will be happy with the resultant. Hopeit works out for you.

Hmmm . . .. :scratch2:

Boy does that not being able to sleep thing feel familiar.
I predict that even if this gear is gone - that this story isn't going to be over.

WELL - I'm baaaaaaack -- and guess what - I got it all - I got there at 7:00 am - the door opened at 8:00 - I was the first one in - with the 25% off my net cost came to $210.65 and I got everything as described above - and I was right - the pieces were the exact ones I noted - the only one I wasn't sure of was the Garrard TT - it's a Lab 80.

I'll post pics later - probably a lot later since I've had NO SLEEP ! Rather than figure out how in the heck I'm gonna get the cabinet home -I went ahead and took all the components out except for the TT .
Also included were all of the original brochures, owner's manuals, receipts, and a box full of misc parts that I'll look at later.

Was it worth staying up all night - YEP !!!!:banana::banana:

Here's what I got !
DYNA Stereo PREAMPLIFIER
DYNA FM TUBE TUNER DYNAKIT
ST-70 DYNAKIT STEREO 70
+ a Garrard Lab 80 Turntable with tons of stuff with it.

+ the beautiful cabinet that weighs a darn ton !

Aw damn.. the cabinet was the thing I wanted to see the most.

You might REALLY consider finding a friend with a truck, because being solid walnut, the wood alone is worth a chunk of change, especially if at least 1/2" thick or more... Even if you have to take it apart, there are people that would pay you nice money for salvaged walnut... figure about $8 - $10 a foot for finished lumber...

I'm pretty sure it'll slide in the back of our Explorer - I have until noon tomorrow to pick it up - I'll draft my son - he's driving back from Scottsdale right now and due in after midnight tonight. Honestly, I have no idea what kind of wood it is. I do know it's great looking and heavy as hell even after I took all the shelves and components out. It's around 3-1/2 feet high, maybe 2 feet deep, BUT it's every bit over 6 feet long ! Anyway, I'm stoked and as lost as I can be. I'm in no hurry to get it up and running - I've got to educate myself some first.

yep.. we need to see pictures... and some times those custom consoles can go for good money if you don't want to keep it, or end up scrapping the wood.

Once you get it, post up some pictures. It could even be a name brand console that doesn't have the name on it. Lots of great people around here for ID'ing consoles..

He says it's solid wood. Barzilay used chip board with veneer... If it's all solid planking, then it's most likely got to be a custom unit. I can't think of any company that used solid board for consoles, but there could be some that did.

As promised - I haven't even knocked the dust off let alone try and clean them up - hopefully over weekend I'll get them cleaned and also get the cabinet here and post pics of that as well.

They did tell me the owner had the cabinet custom made - the TT is actually mounted in it - that's why I haven't taken it out yet. I have no idea how it's gonna look, but based on the other stuff - I'm betting pretty darn clean.
